First coaching certification - GPTCA?

Hi guys,

I'm looking to get my first coaching certification. I've held off on this for so long because unlike in scuba diving where you have PADI, tennis doesnt REALLY have a universally recognised coaching certification.

Abit about my experience: I worked half a year as an assistant coach in highschool coaching little kids (4-8yr olds) and did not like it too much because it was mostly babysitting than actual coaching. From then on, I've just been doing abit of freelance coaching here and there for uni students and adults mostly.

Now I've just read abit about GPTCA on their website and it seems quite promising. Has anyone done a course with them?

I've considered Australia's ATPCA (I'm from NZ and Australia is easy to get to) which now has courses in Australia, Hong Kong, Philipines and Japan but as @Ash_Smith noted "The red flag for me is "This course aims to develop beginner or inexperienced coaches to a standard where they are able to professionally and confidently coach and train junior and adult players from a beginner to mid competition level" and yet it takes only 12 hours? For reference in the UK the level 1 course, which doesn't even allow you to become an Accredited coach or teach lessons by yourself (you have to work under the supervision of an Accredited coach) is a 3 day course with an assessment."

Also considered RPT but their website is still showing only calender of events from 2014 so I have no idea when their next courses are http://www.rptasia.org/calendario.php

I'm also doing a trip to asia so I'm happy to travel to courses in Asia. GPTCA has a course in Cambodia in December which I'm quite interested in.

Appreciate any advice and insights. Thanks!
