First hit/review! Pro Staff Six.One 90 BLX :)

Why can't you flatten things out with the blx90?

I can, but it's not as natural. The K90 you can swing thru as hard as you want and still have considerable control. I've played with the BLX quite a bit with various strings/tension and I just can't replicate my K90 strokes. I think it has to do with the frame being a bit more flexible.

I'm guessing the folks who've used the K90 as their main stick may know what I'm referring to. The Tennis Warehouse review of the BLX pointed to this as well.

Oh that was the biggest difference for me between the K90 and BLX90 when I was demoing both of them.

K90 = stiffer, crisper
BLX90 = flexible, softer

And I prefer flexier frames over stiffer frames.

The first thing I noticed about that BLX is that the gold paint isn't holographic. Meaning, there's no rainbow quality to it. Every single one of my BLX's have that hologram effect, so I'm questioning the value of comparing the PSBLX90 with a fake BLX90.

I just don't think that BLX90 is authentic, and others are welcome to disagree with me.

Damn is that Federer or is that someone else on those review photos!?

Haha naw, Federer wears polos more often than not. I'm not a fan of collars when I'm playing.

Also, he wears his wristband on the "proper" arm, his playing arm. I wear mine on my non-playing arm.

BTW, I forgot to ask (not sure if you've already mentioned it or not) but does the new PS90BLX swing any lighter or easier than the BLX90?

If you've played with a PS 6.0 85 before, does the new PS90BLX swing and maneuver more like the PS 6.0 85 or more like the BLX90/K90? Most people find the PS 6.0 85 much easier to play with than the Tour 90s.

Thanks.

Yeah the 85 is so easy to play with such a huge sweet spot.

Honestly, I didnt notice a difference as far as the ease of swing goes. If you ask me, PS-BLX90 and the BLX90 swung the same way. Whether the BLX90 is easy to swing with or not, that's up to your own interpretation. To me, they both move through the air effortlessly.

The 85 is easier to swing with, I think that's only because it's got a smaller headsize.

Yes, it does. Bigger than on the PS 6.0 95. Have you ever played with it?

The Tour 90s are so much more cumbersome and less maneuverable and harder to swing than the PS 6.0 85 it's like night and day despite the PS 6.0 85's same or higher static weight.

Thanks for the feedback. I was hoping that Wilson finally came to their senses and made a Tour 90 that swings more like a PS 6.0 90 since they brought back the "ProStaff" name. The Tour 90s all swing like logs compared to the scalpel that is the PS 6.0 85.

The PS 6.0 85 swings easier than the Tour 90s due to its much more user friendly weight distribution and its perfect balance, not just its headsize. Even the PS 6.0 95 swings much, much easier than the Tour 90s.

I've also hit with the PS BLX90 and agree 100% that the PS85 swings much more quickly and easily. That said, I did think that the PS BLX90 was somewhat less cumbersome than the K90 or regular BLX 90.

No? :confused:

85 is easier to swing, but it's not night and day compared to the Tour 90's. More like late-twilight hours and the evening.

To me, the PS 6.0 85 re-issue swings like it's under 11 oz. while all the Tour 90s (especially the nCode 90 and PS Tour 90 but the K90 and BLX90 as well) swing like they're almost 14 oz. to me. So that's a "night and day" difference to me. :)

I also wear my wristband on my non dominant arm just to wipe sweat off my face.

Dolgopoplov wears it on his left hand as well.

I had the K90 and switched to the BLX90 when it came out. Sold my K90's and regretted it immediately. Ended up selling the BLX90's and buying more K90's. To me, there's nothing like the feel of the K90. It's an extension of my arm and i can so whatever i want with the ball. The BLX had no feel at all, the ball would get totally lost in the string bed, i got no feedback from the ball being on the strings. K90 you can spin, finesse, crank, drive, flatten, all with minor adjustments during your stroke. Wilson will never make a better racquet IMO. I also have 3 PS88's and they are amazing but tiresome after awhile because of the weight. A wee bit too powerful, but the best feel and even more solid than the K90. Just not as maneuverable.

There comes a certain point when a racket swings too fast. Swinging fast = more likely to frame a shot.

Whatmore, sometimes you want a racket to swing quickly because you have a strong arm. You don't want it to swing fast because it's light. Improved performance due to strength and conditioning, not due to lighter and lighter frames.

For some reason the ps85 feels incredibly light for a 12+ oz frame. Even other frames in the similar weight class and headlight / swingweight balance don't match up to the ps85's handability I think this is one of the purist and most natural racquets out there. I feel a beginner could hit with it easily.

I've also hit with the PS BLX90 and agree 100% that the PS85 swings much more quickly and easily. That said, I did think that the PS BLX90 was somewhat less cumbersome than the K90 or regular BLX 90.
