First Impressions of New 2023 Babolat Propulse Fury

I'm really liking this shoe. I currently wear the Jet Mach 3, but it just feels a little narrow for my foot at times. The new Propulse Fury feels great, fit feels excellent, has a whole bunch of stability, and foot protection. I feel locked in while playing, but it does not feel as rigid as prior versions. I think this will be a big winner. I look forward to seeing TW's review of the shoe. It seems like their playtesters are liking it so far during their review based on a sneak peek I saw. It's not bad looking, either, which never hurts. :)

How is the toebox width compared to the current Fury?

Similar weight wise though right? (sorry for not asking both questions at the same time)
You know. It feels about the same to me. It's a new outer design that I really like, but the weight feels very close. I don't have my old propulse fury's to cross reference, which would've helped. I'm planning to switch to the new Fury from my typical shoe of the Jet Mach 3 that I find a little narrow, and also a little less supportive because it's so fast.

I would like to nominate a shoe for your next TOP 5 list - the BABOLAT PROPULSE FURY 3. I have tried all the top five shoes on this list, and I have to say, these are pretty sweet! They are very well balanced shoe with great stability. A nice performing shoe all around. Cushioning is good, fit is medium, maybe a smidge generous compared to something like a Barricade. This shoe is a better performing shoe all-around to the Asics Court FF3, the Asics Resolution 9, the Adidas Barricade, or any Nike shoe made today. It feels a bit like a Diadora Blushield shoe in terms of cushion but like a Barricade in terms of stability. Closest shoe I can think of to compare it to might be the Diadora B.Icon - which is high praise in my book. I just got my pair, but so far, I like it a lot. Definitely a shoe to try out. Could be the best shoe of 2023!

Curious to know if anyone has tried this shoe along with the New Balance Fuel Cell 996 v5?

I know this shoe is more cushioned, but it is also heavier. Which shoe had the better overall playability?

Looking for something stable and quick, yet also has decent cushioning. I have it narrowed down to these two shoes.

What did you wear before this recent shoe search? I see you posting lots now so I assume you went depleted through your stash recently?

I was wearing the Diadora B.Icon. Great shoe, but they wear out quickly. Apparently, Diadora has addressed many of these durability issues in the new version coming this month. In the meantime, went on a search and tried ALL the new models coming out - Adidas Cybersonics, Asics Court FF3, NB 996 v5, Adidas Barricade, etc. I was very surprised with the Babolat Propulse Fury 3 checked all the boxes (and more). I haver not worn a Babolat shoes since the Roddick Propulse a decade ago. These shoes are outstanding. Tennisnerd just dod a review and he agrees.

what about before the b.icons though? those are only around a year old

Before the B.Icons I was using the Lotto Raptor 100 (great shoe but had issues with pressure on my achilles in them) and before that the Asics Gel Resolution 8s (good shoe, but they crushed my feet with the new lacing system). It is my feeling from palytesting all these shoes that the new Babaloat Propulse Fury 3s are right up there in the top 3 with the Diadora Torneo and the Lotto Raptor. The current line of Nike and Adidas do not make the list. I think the New Balance 996 v5 might be up there too - I have not tested it but the buzz is positive.

YES on the Lotto Raptor. It was the perfect tennis shoe except the heel collar which bit into my Achilles. I was sad to return them. Have you also found the Diadora Torneo to run small in length?

Agree with you 100%. The Raptor would be hands down the best shoe made if not for the achilles issue. Given that, I would say that the FURY 3 or the Diadora Torneo is. The Diadora B.Icon is also great, but not very durable.

What is this shoe like compared with the Jet Mach 3s? And a more specific question: is the fit similar? Asking since I did see OP mention that the JM3s feel a little narrow for him while these feel great, but I also read in the review below that the JM3 supposedly uses the same last as the PF:

For the latest installment Babolat decided to make some changes to the JET to increase its comfort and accessibility. This time around the shoe was made on the same last as the company’s Propulse Fury shoe. For those unfamiliar with the Babolat models, this gives the JET a wider forefoot and truer sizing. Previous models could be run narrow and short, which some found both confusing and unforgiving. This change should broaden the range of players capable of using the shoe.

Indeed this JET comes with more (metaphorical) legroom. My toes could spread out freely on contact, and it offered a secure feeling when making cuts. In a sense, the wider platform and increased court contact made this model a better balanced mover. It should be a blessing for players who felt cramped in earlier models. And having the extra space in the forefoot did give my feet a more comfortable, less restrictive feel, which was welcome over the course of a long match.

I very much like the JM3's fit for myself (far more comfortable for my foot than e.g. the Asics Court FF2), so I'm curious if the Propulse Fury would be another worthy option. Actually another specific Q: what are the main differences between the PF and the JM3?

Bump. Has anyone tried both these and the Jet Mach 3s? How similar/different is the fit?

Nice looking shoe but they were like boats on my feet so I returned them. The fit is incredibly wide...way too much for me but if you like a wider shoe you might like them.

Also, some of the rubber pieces on the toe (meant for slide protection) were peeling off on their own without even playing in them (I just wore mine around the house briefly). Didn't really bode well for the quality of the shoe.

Have you tried the Jet Mach 3s? And if not those, for reference which shoes do you wear which fit you better / which aren't as wide for you as the PPF3?

Still thinking of putting in an order for these. Maybe I'll do like you and try them out myself and return them if the fit is off. Just trying to avoid unnecessary hassle, but with shoes it's nigh impossible to gauge the fit without actually trying them out. One of the few items I don't like buying without having a chance to check them out. But in this regard many webstores do offer free returns. Jet Mach 3s were a snug but not too snug of a fit for me. Comfortable.

Thanks a lot. I'll probably pass on these then. Was confused after reading the opening post and a review saying the Jet Mach 3s were made using the same last as the PPF3 ("For those unfamiliar with the Babolat models, this gives the JET a wider forefoot and truer sizing. Apparently some minor adjustments made between the two. I haven't tried the Jet Mach 2s, but I would by no means call the Jet Mach 3s wide in the forefoot, so the 2s must have been narrow. I find the Jet Mach 3s rather close to how you described your foot. Regular D width. Not narrow, nor wide. I believe my own foot is similar. Average/regular, tilting maybe just a tad towards narrow.

No worries. Hope you find something that works. Just FYI the Babolat Jet Tere 2 also just released, they look pretty nice.

TW is really good about returns and enclose a return label with orders so you could always order a few things and return what doesn't fit well.

Thanks. Maybe I'll just go for another pair of JM3s since the fit is pretty much spot on. It's just that since I had had a good experience with those, I was curious about giving the PPF3s a try. Had read mainly positive reviews, and from what I've gathered they would've had more cushion. I'm currently in the process of trying to get back from a knee injury so was thinking that a more cushioned shoe could be worthwhile. But not much to complain about the JM3s really.

Does the propulse line have 2 year product cycles? If so, it is looking like it is the end of the line. It was so promising on release last year, but it never became really hype.

I wouldnt hold my breath for new Babolat product.

They go forever without introducing anything new.

Has anyone experience between the all court sole and the clay herringbone style sole on the fury 3. I found the jet version which visually had the same Micheline pattern and sole type to be average on hard courts mainly for durablity. I am thinking of trying the clay style but are they faster wearing softer compound rubber or will they be similar to the all court?
