First Impressions of Pure Aero 98

The pop feels pretty good. In my opinion, the Aero 98 has a touch more pop, especially given a little more heft/substance in the head (not quite as head light in my sample as my VS sticks) and strung with RPM Blast Rough, which I find more powerful than my current set-up of straight RPM Blast.

If it has more substance in the head it may solve VS issues for one hand backhand-ers. We shall see….

If the VS or the new 98 has more pop, then it should be compared at the same swingweight and with the same strings. No real point in comparing power levels otherwise..
I agree. That said, I think both sticks are extremely similar besides a couple new tweaks on the new Aero 98.

Just wanted to mention that it seems that the Aero 98 and Drive 98 are going to be in more limited supply, at least at the beginning of the launch. Aero 98 will be sold through TW however, which is awesome! It seems that another retailer will have the Drive 98. Just thought I'd mention. Can't wait for the launch. I haven't hit the Drive 98, but the Aero 98 continues the great qualities of the Aero VS and adds a couple great new qualities. Both will be sold in singles and pairs. Cheers!

But will it be better than the vcore 98? Hmmm...

To me, if tey shifted a bit of weight to the hoop it would explain the extra pop and the reported higher swingweight. Once strung, the 69 RA would go down to roughly 66, which is in VS territory. To me it sounds great and could possibly correct any downsides my som experienceswith his VSs.

Yep, good review. I'm going to need to snag a par of these as soon as they come out; my kid is a college player who currently plays with 4 nearly new 2020 VS frames and needs a couple more but new 3/8 VSs are pretty impossible to find. If this review is right about this being a bit softer with higher SW and everything else being pretty much the same it is right up my kid's alley.

I've got 2 pure aero vs (2020) matched pair in 3/8s. Let me know if you want them. They are in the classifieds as well.

You have to convert to US dollars, it’s not that bad. I was thinking the same thing when I was looking at purchasing Yonex Regina. But once you convert from Australian currency to US it’s normal price.

TW has it up on their site. Looks pretty much as expected per this discussion, 323g strung, 327 SW, 65 stiffness (presumably strung), 6 pts HL, 21/23/22, demos are available if you like 1/4, for sale on 1/19.

Hey All,
I was lucky enough to receive a Pure Aero 98 and have been able to hit it a little bit so far, and just wanted to share some first impressions. The racquet is strung around 53lb. with RPM Blast Rough, which is the string Babs is recommending for this stick to enhance spin, control, and pop. So, it is important to mention that my usual racquets are the Pure Aero VS with about 4 grams of tungsten tape in the hoop, which I think is an amazing racquet. So keep in mind, I'm a big fan of the 98 square inch aeros, especially since the Aero VS came out in early 2020. Anyways, I'm not going to post too much here yet, especially since I haven't had enough time with it yet, but the Pure Aero 98 definitely keeps the inherent qualities that I love about the Pure Aero VS. The feel, control, and ability to customize to a heavier spec if wanted. That said, the Pure Aero 98 I received didn't really feel like it needed weight in the hoop, like my VS sticks. It felt more ready to go out of the box, def head light, but not overly head light. It also has a crisp, solid feel. I would say, the introduction of the new technology Babs is using, Flax I believe, makes contact feel cleaner and slightly softer, which I think is a great thing. Those are just my initial thoughts. If you liked the Aero VS, I think you'll love the Aero 98. Be sure to ask me any questions. Happy Almost New Year. Here's to a great 2023!

Alcarez and Rune both just play the Stock version of this so i dont' think there is any need to add Weight to the frame. I only wish i could take off weight

If they come in matched pairs at measured and confirmed TW specs, I will likely go for a pair. We've had good luck with the matched pairs of the VS in the past. But if we got a couple at TW published specs and the kid likes these better, then we would need to do some tweaking to get our VS frames to match these new frames. The kid has pondered increasing SW anyway, and if these truly come in at 327 strung, we are only at 318 now with his 4 VSs.

This versus the ez/new vcore 98 is what I’m interested in reading about.
I cant speak to the standard Vcore 98, but the VS and the Ezone Tour were the two finalts in my son’s recent demo odyssey. The Ezone Tour was better on serves and overall power, but the VS was better on overall playability for what he does (his impressions only, I would have chosen the Vcore Tour if it were up to me, but it wasn’t) and he is very happy with the VS and has 4 of them.

Yeah if it has more comfort and the SW is accurate, it looks like a nice upgrade from the prior release. I have been using 98s for a while now and currently have the Blade Pro, which I have been using for 3-4 months now. Going to try the PSVS and Regna I have recently acquired for a while and see how that goes. By then I am sure people will have these new versions in their hands and provide more details.

The new Ezone Tour was the best serving racquet Ive ever seen in the hands of my kid. Clocked at accurate and consistent 120 plus MPH flat bombs, but the VS was better at kicks and slices (second serves do happen in life). The Tour kinda had similarities to the Regna, which to me is the gold standard in 98 form.

If you're talking to me... I live in Australia. If not... all good.
