None of the 4 semi-finalists in Paris (Ferrer, Simon, Llodra and Janowicz) have ever won a Masters title so it is guranteed that whoever wins on Sunday will be the first winner of a maiden Masters title since Robin Soderling in the same tournament exactly 2 years ago!
Ferrer has been in 3 Masters finals: 2010 Rome, 2011 Monte Carlo (lost both to Nadal) and 2011 Shanghai (lost to Murray).
Simon has been in 1 Masters final: 2008 Madrid Indoors (lost to Murray).
Llodra has never been in a Masters final. Memorably however he almost made the final of 2010 Paris when he held a match-point in the semi-final against Soderling, the eventual champion.
Janowicz, at 21 the only rookie in this group, has never before been past the early rounds of any ATP tournament as far as I'm aware. Now he is in his 1st Masters semi-final. If he goes on to win the title he will be the 1st unseeded qualifier to win a Masters tournament since..... I don't know for how long!
Interesting times!
