First sighting of The Stanimal

Crazy that just a few months prior, Novak owned him at the USO.

I remember watching that AO13 match live just for the hell of it and ended up not getting any sleep.

Otoh, i felt their 2103 USO was kinda "underwhelming" like their 2015 AO match

The first time he ever came to my attention was semis at Cincy one year. (Think 2012?) Could see he was big time talented but honestly just looked too heavy for top 10 singles.

Good thing Norman got him into shape, among other things.

I didn't watch the prior USO one, but wasn't Stan injured? The h2h says he retired mid-match.

IMO it is huge that all those matches even went to 5 sets. And I would say US Open 2013 is right up there with AO 2013/14.

I agree that AO 2015 is a bit behind though, mainly because of the final set. But even there, if Wawrinka converts the BP in the first game, everything could end different.
