Of all things just when my arm is healing nicely, my left knee has gone south... :(!

It started when I was fooling around after my serves, stupid comical poses after a bad serve... must have stretched something cus now there's a pain in front of the knee n some popping/cracking sounds occasionally n I can't seem to bend my knees to my butt anymore. Can't seem to squat or sit cross leg n getting up from a low position is bad. The lower leg almost feels disjointed when I'm walking around.

What the heck did I do n what braces do you guys recommend? I got a Cho Pat Original Knee Strap and it feels good but it doesn't have a securing strap.

Which ones would you recommend?

I prefer one that has a more secure locking system than the simple velco on cho pat.

Protec PatellaTendon Strap
Mueller Jumper's Knee Strap
Gel-Band For Runner's Knee
BioSkin Q Baby Patellar Tendon Strap
PROSKIN PATELLA BRACE

Whatever you do, see a doctor first.

I have been going through something similar to you though. I just got over Christmas Season arm problems in mid February, then my knee tendonitis recurred in a week later. This is my second bout with tendonitis in the past five years. My doctor told me to do three things. No sports for a couple of weeks, lose weight, and do strengthening exercises when the pain subsides.

I just wear a plain neoprene knee support whenever I'm out of the house to avoid reinjury. In the first week I would take an advil if it got too painful, and would ice my knee every so often to control the inflamation/swelling. In the start of the second week, I started doing leg lifts with light ankle weights. Its almost the end of week two, so I'll start weaning myself from wearing the knee support out of the house, but will still use it when I start playing next week. I'll give myself another two weeks before I stop using the knee support during play.

Thanks but I'll be using the brace for work as I need to do quite a fair bit of walking about. I'll c a doc asap but any advice on the brace will be appreciated.

The type of brace you need is dependent upon the specifics of your injury - if it's an acl tear, for instance, you would need a brace made for that for that type of injury. The popping and restricted movement you mention sounds a lot like a meniscus tear. You need to see and orthopedist and get a diagnosis so you can get on a treatment plan.

I agree with makinao.

Please see a doctor or a physical therapist. They can identify the problem and recommend the best course of action including the use of appropriate brace, if needed.

Good luck and heal up fast.

Next up....the shoulder....

Then the back... sigh, tennis is worst than cycling.

Maybe I should go back to technical diving. At least if something goes wrong I don't have to worry bout it for long LOL!

Btw, thanks guys I'll surely see a doc but of all these braces which ones are the most suitable for tennis n walking about?

That is true however, what's available are the full support with all the braces n support... aka Robocop type, then there's the neoprene with or without the hole in the centre, the next type is a split kind that has upper n lower support (Cho Pat Dual Action Knee Strap) and finally it's the simple strap like the cho pat original support.

Basically I don't think my injury needs the robocop n I need something that allows me to work n walk about for now before I see a doc.
