First year Novak ends Slamless since 2017

Got doubles Gold. A Gold is a Gold, hence why players play both singles and doubles at the olympics.
Navratilova is often heralded greater than Evert because of her doubles record, i dont think Federer should be penalised for not having a singles gold.

Winning one with the help of a partner doesn't quite have the same kudos as winning one all by yourself much the same as winning a doubles Slam doesn't quite have the same kudos as winning a singles Slam.

So i wonder how he feels about achieving what Nadal did 14 years later. If what you are saying is true, it is a bizarre mindset if you think about it, as he is effectively massively talking up a rival.
He made his feelings pretty clear, has been talking about it non stop saying it’s his greatest achievement etc much to my annoyance. Dude just stop it already. If you are going to continue your career for #25 just commit to it, stop the monkeying around. Personally for me and I think lot of other Novak fans, I’d much rather have him win another USO than an OG. I guess that’s also why I am just some random keyboard warrior and Novak is the Goat, that stubborn son of a gun will do what he wants.

Well, exactly. Who are we to try and dictate to our favourite players what they should be doing or not doing?? It's their careers, not ours.

I'm not suggesting that he should be penalised just stating a fact.

its mandatory event unless you are injured, he would had to fake injury
Players over 31 and have played 600 matches on the circuit do not have toplay any mandatory tournaments. Fed skipped the FO for years to help narrow his h2h with Nadal.

I agree, but the fact players do enter both singles and doubles at the olympics when they usually dont bother in other events does make medalling significant.

I told you nards who thought Djokovic is gonna keep winning until he's 40. He did absolutely amazing in 2023 at 36. This year is a regular year for a 35+ year old ATG.

I dont even think he has one more Slam in him, the Olympic Gold was the last thing keeping him motivated, hes got nothing to play for anymore.

No one ever says Stan has an Olympic Gold Medal. To be fair, not many people know who partnered Rafa when he won his doubles gold medal.

He needs to win 14 slam titles at one slam so he can have a statue.

It is a huge shock.

Winning 12 majors in 5 years and now straight to zero ??

Probably tennis level has gone up and he is not able to keep up ?
Lol definitely not the case. Novak has not been at the races mentally or physically for most of year apart from Wimbledon and the Olympics.

He literally had nothing left to prove or to morivate himself to the level of previous years, apart from Wimbledon and the Olympics.

If he cannot get motivated and his desire back by middle of next year, I expect next year to be his last.

Put all his buckets into the Olympics exho this year.

Gotta put in more focus into slams next year.

He won't be handed cakewalk draws and rigged draws like Rafael Parera Nadal gets so gotta up his level with ranking likely to drop hard

Shocking. That's the only way to describe 2024 for Novak. From winning 3 Majors (!) in 2023 plus the ATP finals with convincing victories over Sinneraz to winning 0 Slams in 2024. This is the first year Novak ends Slamless since his infamous 2017.

Will he comeback in 2025? One thing is for sure, if he doesn't win any Major in 2025, I don't see him playing beyond 2026. If he does win Majors in 2025, we'll see.
Could be the beginning of the end. But I have written him off before only to be proven wrong.

Djoker will hang up his racquets if he is titleless by Easter 2025. Or smash them, then announce his retirement because he's got no racquets left.
Has every single record and won gold this year. Nothing worse than what is happening with Nadal though, losing first or second round and pulling out of tournaments

You think a major like AO, FO and USO is not motivating Djokovic enough ?

Djokovic fought like his life dependent on it at FO with a questionable ankle against Musetti and Cerundulo. Let us not come to the conclusion that Djokovic does not care just because he loses.

I just heard Sinner say the level in tennis is not as varied as you can imagine. The same thing Federer said at Dartmouth earlier this summer that you only need to be slightly better than your opponent to win matches and if you dont do the extra amount, you lose. Perhaps that is what is happening to Djokovic.

Many tennis fan dont know who was rafa partner in doubles gold. Anybody who googles first and answer is cheating himself. Double gold is good when you are counting medal tally but Roger was never a double player and nadal also was not double player.
