Fischer Pro #1 Revisted

Does anyone knpw the difference (if any) other than cosmetics in the 2003 Fischer Pro #1 (no FT) vs the current model? 320gram. I used the VTPro98 which had the same profile a long time ago and it contained ceramics and a very narrow string tension range (like 2 pounds from high to low)..i know the latest version is graphite/fiberglass (no ceramics) and has a string tension range of like 50-70..i assume the 2003 version to be the same as the 2004? anyone know for sure? thanks. Ed

iwsh someone would determine if in fact the new one is in some part fiberglass. Fischer is all over thplace with racket composition claims. TMN the #1 (non FT!) still is ceramics/graphite. Was it ever made with a fiberglass component as stated? Almost all of their recent intros are claimed to have fiberglass in the layup as do a few new Volkls. Most rackets these days with fiberglass are cheaper. I assume Tw has no option but to print what Gamma/Fischer gives them.

marc..when i was playing fischer before, the fischer models w. ceramics in them had a very small string tension range like (54-56Lbs)..several ceramic model were this way. if you strng them out of that range, the frames just didnt play very well so fischer really knew what they were talking about there. ceramic is very stiff and somehow these axes didnt play that stiff, although if you tapped them on the court they felt really stiff. i assume with a suggested string range of 50-70 pounds that there is no ceramics in the newer ones. i have one coming in early next week and will let you know if you like. the ones w. ceramics had a really distinctive feel. also w. the stiffness rating tw gives on this frame, i would presume there is no ceramic. also, here are specs from another source on the current iteraqtion of the Pro#1----> Fischer Pro No. 1

FYI: The 50-70 lb. tension range is just Gamma garbage.
The Pro Extremes sent to the US have the same 50-70 lb. tension ranges printed on the frames, the exact same racket it Europe (same weight) says 51 lbs. plus or minus 5, it is the same with the European Pro No. 1s, although they may say 54 plus or minus 5. I have owned both European and US versions of the same Fischer rackets (same weights) and the they have different tension ranges printed on them. The European ranges seem more realistic IMO.

thanks alfa..i guess my question is whether the current pro #1's contain ceramics (which became unpopular years ago) or whether they are indeed graph/glass only. ,aybe if someone from TW is reading, they will jump in here. i will be able to tell as soon as i hit with one..i still remember the feel of my old VT98pros. while i have you alfa, do you find the fischers still only perform well in the mid 50's tension? you wouldnt think gamma would have any control over fischer at all since they are only the us distributor and they have noting to do with production. but then again, some older fischer racquets werent even a full 27 inches..no biggie..i'll be able to tell next week. thanks for the post

In 2003 Fischer re-released the Pro #1 with a new paintjob and they also released a Pro #1 FT. The Pro #1 non-FT is still of 'SiC Ceramics Graphite' construction.

My european sourced Pro #1 320g version has printed on the frame a tension range of 51lbs +/- 5lbs. I've strung at 64lbs with no apparent damage to the frame.

VT98 Pro: has ceramics, NO glass
Red/Silver 330g Pro 1: as above
Red/black/white Pro 1 320g: NO ceramics, NO glass....but has Ti
Current Pro 1 FT: HAS ceramics + Ti.....NO glass
Current Pro 1 320g:......WHO KNOWS REALLY??????????
2003 Pro Extreme FT: NO glass
2004 Pro Extreme FT:....WHO KNOWS REALLY????????

Thanks Fischer (GAMMA)! Your marketing dept. SUCKS.

Agree 100%: current GAMMA tension ranges are stupidly wide.
I've owned ALL of the above frames (still only use VT98 Pro) and find the optimal all-round tension for each of these frames to be 57 lbs.

ha..this is funny guys...all kind of conflicting info..tw specs say graphite/glass..fischer website doesnt mention construction, one poster sez graph/ceramics, another sez graphite/ti, another sez who knows....i'm going with the who knows for now until i hit w. one next week. it's the 2003 version.....the red/black/silver. ed

I heard it was made from white pine/graphite. On another note, I have never hit with a fischer, what is the handle shape? rectangular or more squarish?

ok i was able to reach gamma and they tell me the 2003 and 2004 pro#1 are identical other than the cosmetics change. they both contain ceramics..so they are graphite/sic ceramics which makes for the fischer feel if the gamma dude is to be believed. they were IMO the only ones to use ceramics and not have the axe play stiff. @wright, the gripshape isnt boxy and isnt squarish..it's kind of in between but more towards the rectangular (just wright for me);) ..also the grips run slightly smaller and there isnt really a knob at the butt..i kinda miss that feel. if it feels like my old vtpro98's but easier to swing, i am all over this one.

I've always wanted to hit a vt pro 90. There were some "tour quality" 90's on **** about a year ago brand new. I think they went for a little over $100.

The red/white/black Fischer Pro #1 is available in some parts of the world in 3 weights
295g, 320g and 330g (all unstrung readings)

I'm looking at my red/white/black 320g Pro #1 right now and on the frame is printed

'SiC Ceramics Graphite'

There is no mention of Ti anywhere on the frame.

'Mojo, In stock form the 320g version may be too light. I've added 8g of lead tape to mine. 4 at 3 and 9 o'clock and 4 under the replacement grip. For my technique the racquet has it all, topspin, slice, flat, power and touch and feel.

thanks AAAA. so now we know. as to the weight, i am gonna try it stock at first..i'm older now and dont develop the racquetspeed i used to. the specs are perfect for me, and i love the fischer feel....hopefully i'll have some t10mp's for sale soon. if anyone wants me to compare the pro#1 to the t10mp i would be happy to do so after playing them for a bit. ed

^ thanks ed. my interest of the pro #1 has got to me too. i also use a T10 mp and would like to know how the two compare against each other.

jay i had a hit w. the pro #1..mine will come tomorrow i think. it's sweet and i will post something when i get mine in and play w. it w. my usual setup..for me, it will come down to in large part who i can serve w. her. but.....i am astounded that Fischer still makes frames that are slightly shorter than standard length .anyone know the logic (if any) behind this.??? my old vtpro98's were like that too...maybe they are just using the same unmodified mold from the early 90's...the layup felt a little diferent to me than the vtPro98..like maybe less ceramics so it was a little more flexy, but i havent hit w. the vtpro98 in years. more to follow if anyone is interested. ed
