hi there. i can help you with this. i used the older VTPro98 for a few years (the blue, purple one w. the exposed braid ....a frame w. magical properties), and have also spent some time with the Pro1. While they appear to be from the identical mold, the layup has changed alot over the years. the VTPro98 had the most SIC ceramics in there and really did only play great at 55 56, or 57 and was alot stiffer than the current Pro1. if you took these to a stringer who didnt really know what those tensions really are supposed to be, you ended up w. an unplayable frame. the Pro#1 doesnt really have SIC ceramics in the layup anymore inspite of what it may say on the frame and plays much softer. when Gamma acquired US marketing rights to the frame, they decided to make the string tension range huge on the Pro1. it probably would play ok at 50 and and 70, but you would have a small sweetspot at 70 and much shock on mis-hits. i would say 50-65 might be more realistic. as far as the red/black/white 2003 Pro1 vs the current Red/Black pro1, they are the same...just a cosmetic change, but people can dispute this if they like. if you have a blue/purple exposed braid VTPro98 for sale in great shape, i would be interested in purchasing.
