Hello

Does anyone know where to find grommets for the Fischer Pro Classic 98 Vacuum Technique? The grommet specialist in Georgia has already been contacted.

Thanks in advance

Since no one has responded, i;ll take a crack at this. The names are very similar and i get them mixed up, but if you are talking about the variable beam VTPro98, the pro #1 grommets may fit as i think the pro1 came from the same tool. those would be much easier to find. If you are talking about the straight beam model (maybe that is where the Classic descriptor comes from), that's going to be a really tough one i think.
I was a big fan of the VTPro98..the blue/purple/gold one w. the exposed layup....the one that didnt play well at all if not strung at 54, 55, or 56 which i believe was their recommended tension range. used that frame for at least 5 years back in the day.

Thanks for the suggestion NBM. It is the straight beam. The bumper guard has a very shallow channel which seems to easily expose the strings and therefore one scrape with the court compromises the main strings into premature breaking. The string breaking appears at first glance to be a pinched string from a mishit near the frame. Protective tape could work but obviously would alter the racket specs.

Our pal Cross-Court is simply not the same w/o his Vacuum Techs, though he came to life and stormed back to whip Geoff and I in a two on one live ball drill last week when he picked up my K90. A sign?? I think so! ;)

I dont suppose the grommets are large enough to accept tubing. that would likely quickly wear through anyway I suppose. it;s going to be really hard to find grommets/bumpers for that frame.

I have two long shots for you:

1. You could contact try and contact Fischer in Austria and see if they just happen to still have any lying around.

2. You could contact Pacific the company that bought the Fischer tennis assests in Germany because they are still manufacturing the Vacuum Pro Classic 98 with the PJ of the new Pacific X Force Pro for a couple of players that still us it on Tour. So grommets are still out there. Andrey Golubev, who won the 2010 German Open a couple of weeks ago used the Vacuum Pro Classic 98 with the PJ of the Pacific X Force Pro.

One last place that might have it is that Mail order place in Maryland.

If it's the straight beam Vacuum Pro 98, the latest iteration of that frame was the "Retro" Pro Classic 98. Its grommets and bumpers fit the original, and should not be hard to find.
