Hello all, I've always wondered this and never REALLY knew...

I have been playing with and using the Fischer Pro Classic 98 Retro (remake) racket for years and I never knew what racket it is actually based off of...I have 6 of them and love it but always wondered if they were the best of the Fischer frames...

Is it based off of the vacuum?
Is it it's own mold ?
If not, what mold is the racket based off of ?

Here's a pic of what I use to be sure, please include pics in your response so I know what I must buy if it is not based on the vacuum...

Also, in all of your opinions, where would you place this racket ranked in top 5 best Fischer frames ? *Please include mid or mid plus*

I don't know what that is supposed to be but I miss Fischer, they made great frames and there was just something cool about the triforce rackets. Made me feel like the hero of time whenever I played with it.

Vacuum Pro Mid is the best Fischer for me.

Vacuum is not anything a frame can be based on:

Vacuum Technology
...manufactured using Fischer’s Vacuum Technic, creating absolutely stress-free conditions for production. During the prewinding of the impregnated fiber layers, the internal pressure of the Vacuum process draws out the trapped air. This makes the racquet wall stress-free and enusres a constant thickness throughout. The result is a homogeneous, ultra precise racquet with exact playing properties.

I feel like Pacific needs to shake things up, their rackets aren't selling, rebrand them as Fischer!!! Bring the triforce back!

Nope I called my Fischer the Master Racket, as a matter of fact it is still the only stencil I ever bought because it was the only one cool enough to get the logo on the strings.
LOL you're killing me man ! I also only ever bought the Fishcer stencil because of the triforce !!! It used to help me muster up the courage to battle those matches that would never end !

To answer your question, the retro is based on the Vacuum Pro Classic 98. The original unstrung weight is 330 g but it also came in a 320g version, just like some other Fischer models from the mid 90s. I have a few of both.
The 320g version is an excellent racquet, just like your retros, but the heavier version is even better IMHO.
The latest Pacific which weighs only 315g is not near as plush and solid as the Fischer pro classic.

Finally my curiosity can now have some closure, so this racket IS based off of the Vacuum 98 which is what I was hoping, but it's the 320 Gram version...I always thought that I should add some lead at 3 & 9 o'clock.

If I go with 3 & 9, should the lead be 3 inches long or 6 inches ? (5 grams on each side to add the 10 that I am missing and don't worry, I have a leather grip on both frames so right now they are head light, so the lead will re-balance !)

Thank you !!!

So the retro plays nicely? I'm on the hunt for new frames. Loving the Kneissl white and red star and also toying with the idea of some Fischer pro 1 or pro 1 ft........

Never tried 1 FT but the Pro 1 is a sweet frame. It's #252 mold (Baghdatis) and served me well for 3 years. M Pro 1 SL is still in my bag.

Yeah but 330grams.... thinking it's too heavy maybe. I keep getting rid of my Pacifics x force pro and trying other things but come back......

Yes it plays nice, I always loved the feel of the M-Speed however the thick beam in the head always felt odd to me at net and especially serving, although the Retro has a bit of a different feel than the M-Speed, it outclasses it in manuverability thanks to the thinner straight beam. The M-Speed also had more power so I had to string it at 63-65 pounds, but with this retro, I'm at 52 pounds !

Now it hits and feels like the M-Speed AND cuts through the air on serves, volleys and ground strokes.

I have 6 of these and they all have the ability to install pallets, so a few weeks before Fischer was going out of business, I called every single Fischer distributer in the country and was able to purchase 6 of the size 3 black Fischer pallets.

Good to go sir !

Super Saiyan?
haha it's from an Anime fiction TV show called Dragon Ball Z, it's when a Saiyan (Similar to humans but have a lot of physical potential) character achieves a form that allows them to excel at all of their physical abilities x50 of a regular person/Saiyan.

The M-Speed transformed me as a player so I used the phrase from the show "Super Saiyan"

Hi there Fischer friends :)
I am a big Fischer fan. Used to play with the Fischer Vacuum Twin Tec Pro - the one with the marble paintjob, and Carl Uwe Steeb’s signature. I have tried a ton of sticks during the years but never found one with the same manueverablity and controllable power. I have now realized that I have to play with Fischer to get the Fischer experience :) Anyone who would know someone who might have a racquet like that for sale ? Alternatively - although my hopes are not too high - anyone out there one the same quest who has found a modern/current stick from another brand which you believe plays like the mentioned Fischer ?

yeah basically removes excess resin ans ensures tighter tolerances and perhaps more consistent resin flow?

the vacuum 90 mids are goat frames... but the 98s are good ... nice sticks

Hey @joathoe, at one point last year @michael valek had access to some "new old stock" Fischers. Not sure if he still has that contact, or even if your specific racquet was available, but I'd start there first.

Other than that...its had to say. I'm also a huge Fischer fan, but recently tried Volkl V1 Pro and was pleasantly surprised. Very easy to swing, and very comfortable (although I'd probably have to add some lead to get it where I like). The only draw back is the grip shape, but apparently different pallets are available for them.

Thanks for the hint, about Michael Valek, and also interesting insight about the Völkl V1 Pro. Was it the latest version of the V1 Pro - I guess it's called "Sense" or something ? Or was it an older version - like Super G or even Organix ?

It was the V-Sense one... this:

After hitting w/ it I was going to look into the Super-G version, but couldn't find any in my grip size. Although now that I know about swapping the pallets, I may try to pick up a Super-G on the cheap.

Hi, are any of these for sale?? I will buy all of them! Looking for the Fischer Pro FT No 1. I currently use this racquet and can't find anything that plays like it. Email deegee777@aol.com. Thank you
I actually bought those, although he may have a few more.

I'd be willing to sell you mine (I've moved on to the Extreme FT), but I replaced the pallets w/ the 2nd generation pallets and sold the old-style pallets to a user here.

Each player will have a diff fav. Mine is the M105.

I've had many iterations of Fischers over the decades, starting w/ the Vacumn Pro 90. For nearly the last 10 years,
Mag Speed Pro 1 105sqin. I've also had many Pro1 98s but settled on the 105s and sold off all the 98s. I still have
one Mag Tour 100 and it plays nearly identical to the M105 for me but I feel more comfy w/ the M105.

Thanks to McLovin for the pallets (1 2nd gen, 1 3rd gen). IMO 1st and 2nd gen pallets (with screws) are best.
I can still use more 4 1/4 or 4 1/8 pallets if anyone has some unused (wife also use the M105).
