Fitness fears grow over Roger Federer’s participation in French Open

Great comment from Federer:
“I’m not going to go into specifics, honestly. I’m not in the mood for you guys to start debating about it because you don’t know, and I won’t tell you everything, anyway. But it’s definitely got something to do with the back.”
The older he gets, the more his dislike for the media hype machine grows I think, and rightfully so.

Federer hasn't missed a slam this millennium. He shall surely not miss the FO this year. (Although he's unlikely to even reach the quarter-finals)

Federer won't miss the French Open. He'll play but I suspect he'll lose 2nd or 3rd round. He's already alluded that he's looking past it it the grass court season based on his interview after the Thiem match.

''I knew I wasn't good enough for any result here, so that's why I hope you don't read into it so much, and I don't,'' Federer said. ''This is like, `Who cares about the results here?' It matters what comes now in the next couple of months.''

I think he was already feeling unwell last year and that's why his original plan was to skip clay

Hope he retires with dignity instead of doing a Schumacher -for the sake of his fans if nothing elee

How much more money does he still want to make?

I think Roger Federer will play the French Open this year. He still has a week to recuperate before the tournament begins and he seems to genuinely enjoy playing in France. Roger Federer is nothing if not the consummate professional and he would not want to disappoint his many fans by skipping the event.

I can't speak to knowing Schumie personally but at that time he said he only came back as a favor to Ross Brawn
