Five lucky losers already in the men's singles draw at Wimbledon

And play doesn't start for another 63+ hours.

There's a first round match between lucky losers: Tomic and Hurkacz.

Getting to the point where they might as well not bother playing the final round of qualifying and just let them all in.

There were 8 in RG. Overall positive change imo.

The real question is if there's going to be 5-10 every tournament, it seems wrong to make the players who missed the main draw by just a bit go through qualis.

How many were there at RG on the Thursday night? (RG starts on Sunday, so I moved it forward 24 hours).

Dunno. But the last spot opened on Sunday - Trungle drove from Barcelona to get it.

Yes, I remember that. I imagine that the challenger fields for next week might be pretty depleted right now, with some of the high-ranking qualifying losers sticking around near London just in case. Any sense of whether that's true or not?

it's getting kind of silly when you see two lucky losers playing each other. The guys that drop out know that they weren't going to be able to play before the qualifying started too. I kind of think the seeded players should be playing the qualifiers early on. It going to be really crazy next year when the # of seeds is reduced to 16.

I thought so. He might get out of 1st round at Wimbledon.
Tomic had a MTO early on during his 3rd round qualifying match. I am unaware of what is wrong with him, but he might not be fit to play either. I know there is a lot of interest in seeing him though.

Suffered an "illness" during his Finals loss. Not sure what that means.

IMO all Q, PR, WC, LL etc should be set up to face seeded players. It's not fair to have the guy ranked 50 have to play a top 10 first round and then have two guys ranked 150-200 face each other

I agree with that...but it's moving in the opposite direction. From next year there will be only 16 seeds, so world number 17 can play #1 in round 1.

That's boring for fans. Luck of the draw.

It's way we are going back to 16 seeds, 32 was getting boring and predictable in the early rounds.

In 2002, lucky loser George Bastl beat another lucky loser before beating Pete Sampras. Then Bastl got thrashed by David Nalbandian.
The Wimbly bakers were on their game with pie selection that year. Nalbandian wanted to stay around longer.

Laslo Djere, who is still playing in a clay challenger this week, will have to start on grass at Wimbledon. I am going to assume he will pull out. Does anyone know where list for alternates are?

This is somewhat of a myth. It was usually only predictable in the early rounds for the Big 4 and a select couple of players during their best years. Other high ranked players lose in the first 3 enough or at least get challenged.

I think they should make a week before tournament start as the deadline for withdrawals. Anything later than that should attract a penalty. Two penalties and third one bans you for a slam. People misusing the injury system should not be encouraged.

I read somewhere that Dudi isn't fit. If that's the case,I hope he withdraws so Bolelli can get in.

I am not 100% certain Krajinovic is fit too.

I saw that. I posted it in the tournament thread. I think Kokkinakis is next up.
It's Jason Jung, and then Thanasi Kokkinakis. After that are Matthias Bachinger, Luca Vanni, Alessandro Gianessi, Brayden Schnur, Dominik Koepfer, Stefano Napolitano, James ward, and Jurgen Melzer.
