Fixing forehand rotation

Hello all,
I'm having some trouble on my forehand that is causing me pain in my shoulder and some inconsistency in the shot. I unfortunately don't have any access to video footage of the stroke but I'll do my absolute best to describe it.

When I start my forehand swing, I'd say I have pretty good body rotation. My hips and my shoulders have a deep coil and generate good power when I uncoil them (and time the shot right). The problem arises in the rotation speed of my arm. When my shoulders/hips have rotated around to face the net, my arm is still pointed at around a 35 degree angle behind me with the wrist lagged back even farther. This causes problems with my timing and, as mentioned above, pain in the shoulder.

If anyone has experience with this or ideas what I can do to help keep the arm in line with/ahead of the rest of my torso, I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

You're letting your arm trail behind the shoulders. The shoulders and arms should move as a unit - that right there will cure your problem. You can think of initiating the stroke with the swing instead of with the shoulders. Or Or you can think of the arm never breaking the plane of the shoulders in the backwards direction. Go out and throw some tennis balls sidearm - that will give the idea of the type of rotation you should have.

Here's what the arms and shoulders moving as a unit looks like:
