The french sport publication's featured new generation of players:

Rafael Nadal, Marcos Baghdatis, Tomas Berdych, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Richard Gasquet, Nicolas Almagro, Stanislas Wawrinka and Gael Monfils

http://www.atptennis.com/1/en/news/news5.asp

Already showing some signs of current top 10 going lower: Lubjicic may
go down to 7-8th depending on the rest of top 10 do in AO.
Nalbandian made semi(?) last year right? If he loses early, he may
drop out too...

Well Baghdatis is certain to go down...much of his points were won at the AO last year.

As for the new balls...Take out Almagro, Wawrinka, I haven't seen extremly impressive results from them. Thier accomplishments are below those of Berdych, Baghdatis, and Nadal.

ATP news also mentioned Federer was one of the named players
in 2000 as "new ball please" catch phrase of ATP...

Anyway, these new players are different from recent top 10
who have been mostly "late boomer" types, IMHO.
New generations are mostly elite junior players coming up pretty fast..

Almagro will gain many points on clay. Warwrinka is still in AO and has a chance of beating Nadal.

As much as I like New Balls v2, I'll always have a soft spot for New Balls v1:

Who's the guy between Safin and Kuerten? Short guy with his cap backwards and white adidas shirt.

They should put Sam Querry in the "new balls" group :O That kid is amazing how he's already standing up to people within the top 50. Haven't seen him play though :(

Yep, Nocolas Lapentti who briefly dated Kournikova and started to
drop out mysteriously...

He was ranked as high as #6 but started to go down right after he
was sorta promoted as "new balls"...

P.S. Musashi, let's decide date and time for a match with me.
Bring your sword.
