Yeah he was too much today. I thought Federer had a slight chance with the break in the third, but Cilic raised his level after that. His returns in that 3-3 game in the 4th were pretty incredible. I've never seen his groundstrokes that steady either. He has always had a powerful game, but normally gives away too many free points.

tbh, I wasn't that surprised at his serves and groundstrokes. I've seen him hit those with ridiculous power before - he was even over-powering delpo in 2 of their matches from what I remember ( delpo only got thru because he was more steady )

That's what the Monfils match should have been like. Monfils started celebrating before winning it. Cilic really held his nerve there.

Might have something to do with the doping charges. I try my best not to hold it against him, and I do like him, but it's not always easy. I am very happy about his win, though. He deserves it.

A lot of people formed an opinion about him as a "doper" on the general premise of him being suspended. The reality is that the ITF used him. I refer you to the thread I posted on the subject in the General Pro Player section.

The idiotic US coverage kept switching to video of Robert Redford chumming it up with the announcers, but I think that Cilic served all aces at 4-3 or something?

Thanks for that. I guess I should've read up on it more. I didn't know the details, but I was more inclined to believe it was accidental than intentional.
