Flying Tension Calibrator

Last night I was calibrating the weight on my new drop weight. With 70lbs of tension being held for several seconds, suddenly the string gave way and the pros pro calibrator was launched across the room and into the wall.

Looks like the string failed at one of holes in the calibrator so now I have used tubing to try and prevent this from happening again.

The calibrator doesn't with any manual or warnings about this happening which would have been useful for beginners like me.

What do you mean by calibrating - just checking the kgs/lbs on the black strip if they match the tension calibrator's readings?

Are all readings sharp? Have you calibrated the calibrator?

I weighed a bucket of water using the pros pro calibrator and I read it as 27 lbs. Then used the bathroom scales and it measured 28.5 lbs.

I noticed that lifting the bucket more quickly gives a different reading on the calibrator. Also, I am finding the guage only about ±0.5 lb accurate because the gauge is quite small and not the easiest to read accurately. Wondering if this calibrator is worth having now.

My experience with a tension calibrator,
I used paracord instead of tennis string; my thinking was that zero stretch string is ideal, so paracord I had handy, it gave me a low reading, about 7 lbs less,
I was then told to use regular tennis poly string (reluctantly I changed it, expecting similar results), it gave me more of a correct reading to tension set...
