Fog fingers the crowd in Shanghai after losing in the first round...

Yeah, I've seen a lot worse. Wang was reaching over fogs head, fog brushed him off him. A fan taunting fog on the way out, he gave a hip level bird so the kids couldn't see. Minimal fine. A deal, but not a big deal.

I think Wang was just shaking hands with the ref, and Fognini intentionally walked into Wang while passing under his armpit, and even elbowed Wang while passing him. You could see the elbow movement, it looked intentional to me.

Before that, the handshake with Wang at the net was unsportsmanlike, looking away and not recognizing Wang as the deserving winner he was. Now that may not be punishable, but it sure doesn't give him any popularity points.

Personally I don't think a fine or suspension would help much. Fognini doesn't seem to be very happy as a professional tennis player. I feel sorry for him. But that doesn't take away his responsibilities towards fair play and being a role model. Only he himself can make this better, he needs to have a think. I wonder how his coach deals with this aspect.

I don't see it that way.

First of all, after Wang finishes the match point, he pauses, points at the crowd and swings his fists in the air for about 6 sec while Fognini is on his way to the net to shake hands.

I don't mean to say he doesn't have the right to celebrate after a big win, or swing his fists in the air, but for fk' sake, do it AFTER shaking the hand of your oponnent waiting for you at the net, not BEFORE.

And Fognini was right to shove Wang because Fabio was first to shake hands with the ref, and Wang simply walked over him as he just wasn't there.

The finger was too much, but it wasn't planned in advance, and was in reaction to the heckling.

Much ado about nothing.

LOL really? Fog was not waiting at the net as far as I can tell, in any case not an overly long celebration for a BIG BIG win.

I just replayed it like 5 times. My interpretation is that Wang was just being a little awkward by not letting Fognini shake hands first. This does not justify shoving and elbowing. I guess both could be forgiven for what happened by the ref's chair.

That is just such a poor justification.

Fog should have punched him in the dick.
