Since we're just a fortnight away from the start of the new Premier League season i figured it's that time of the year again - that's right, time for predictions for the upcoming football season :p

You've got until 12/8 to vote in the poll and post your predictions (you can also edit your post/change your vote during that period). I think that's fair.

Be interesting to bump this thread next summer.

Sooo, who's going to win the title? Will it be City with Pep working his magic from the get go? Conte's new look Chelsea? Maybe a last gift from Wenger to the Arsenal fans? Will United buy the league? Is it Liverpool's time, having the massive advantage of Klopp + no Europe? Leicester to do the unthinkable and defend their title? Even Spurs have got a chance, if they can replicate last year's performances, no?

Got to vote for Liverpool although I don't really expect us to do it. Although we have a chance. Voting with heart not head.

General prediction though

Top 6 - City, United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs
Bottom 3 - Hull, Burnley and Watford
FA Cup - Chelsea
League Cup - Liverpool
Champions League - Barcelona
Europa League - Sevilla of course finishing third in their group in the Champions League and winning it. They just love it too much.
Player of the Season - Sanchez
Top Scorer - Aguero
Signing of the season - Tough one probably someone that's gone under the radar may come back to this one at a later date
Flop of the Season - If he's anything other than player of the season it should probably be Pogba given the money paid for him.

Would make a great season if your predictions come true. Although ideally Burnley avoid relegation and United finish outside the top4. :p but let's not get too greedy, eh? ;)

City for the title. If United play nicely like they are capable of with this squad I will cheer for them to win it (though their manager made me sick many times ).

Maybe we should wait for the end of transfer window to make some of those other predictions.

Fair enough I guess for the signing/flop of the season categories but the rest should be posted before the start of the new season!

ManU or Leicester City for the Community Shield next Sunday???

The Community Shield is just a glorified friendly tbh. Still, come on Leicester!!! :D

Should be spicy (although these comments look very silly after Claudio totally changed his reputation last season)

The Portuguse mocked the 63-year-old's grasp of the English lan guage and lack of trophies.

“He (Ranieri) has lived for five years in England and still has trouble saying good morning and good afternoon,” Mourinho said.

“He is almost 70, and he has won a Super Cup and another small cup. He’s too old to change mentality.”

Going for Bayern in the Champions League.

United if they take it seriously might actually win their first Europa League. We all know the Sevilla story though, and I wouldn't be surprised if Inter impresses.

Fingers crossed Pogba performs like the player of the season if he joins Manchester United.

You like Messi's new blonde look?
Nope. I wish he never turned into another one of those footballers with tattoos and all kinds of hair experiments.

But as long as he is playing well, I can tolerate that. :)

I have Man Utd for the league.

Pep has most of the voters brainwashed. :p But then, we could say the same about Jose and me. We shall see.

Agreed. Leave that bollocks to Cristiano and co.

Any votes for my dear beloved so far?

Haven't voted yet so I can't see the results but I guess man city is leading the poll... Understandably.

If Pogba and a good defender come, I might fancy our chances...

I have Man Utd for the league.

Deluded :p ;)

Dont think it's just Pep. They've got the best squad hands down, if they can keep Aguero fit can't see past them really. At least as far as top 2 is concerned.

Hurry up and begin!

I honestly still think they are an overrated squad. In seasons when they didn't win the title, they weren't even close, while those two leagues they won was more down to their title rivals Man United and Liverpool choking. I mean, freaking Leicester were far more convincing title winners than them.

I get where you're coming from, but imo, if anything, they massively underachieved under Mancini and Pellegrini. Look at their squad right now. I'd say theyve got easily the best in the league, on paper at least, and they're still not done with the incomings.

Pep looks like the perfect man for them, he has done just that in Spain and Germany - took over the "best" team with the big names etc and instantly won them trophies. Obviously it's not going to be as straightforward here (with 5,possibly 6 teams fighting for the title), be interesting to see if he adapts his style for Man City/Premier league. Can't see tiki taka working in England, at least not the relatively "slow" paced stuff I've seen from his teams.

So yeah I agree that as a unit/on the pitch they haven't been that good, but for me their squad is full of quality options in literally every position (they're also getting Sane, who's apparently class. Bye bye Raheem:D)

Think you're right about that. Got the best striker in the league and the best centre back in the league and quality all over the pitch. Lots of squad depth and a good (albeit probably over-rated) manager, as you say only goes to the best teams but it's not like he's the only one to do that. Can't see him adapting it enormously and I think he'll make it work. The already have pretty good players for it in addition to the ones he'll bring in I don't see much of a problem, he may need to tweak it but only that I think.

Doubt we'll be seeing the end of Sterling, I don't like the guy either but he is a quality player, one slightly sub-standard season and poor Euros doesn't make a bad player and he's still very young really. I doubt Pep's going to give up on him and I think Pep's style should suit him quite well. Not like he's afraid of playing young players either like some managers either.

Hey, don't ruin it for me. :p Seriously though, I wouldn't say he's "quality", at least not yet. Yes, he had a fantastic season with Liverpool (13/14), and a couple decent ones but he's got a loong way to go to be considered a quality player let alone a top class one. Even back then he had obvious weaknesses - went missing on the big occasions, TERRIBLE finishing, below average technical ability etc. He hasn't sorted anything out, if anything he has regressed since then. Won't be surprised if Pep doesn't fancy him, give it a few years and I can easily him at a midtable club, it's not like we haven't seen this script before.

And yes Guardiolas got a decent record with the youngsters but City as a club? ;) he'll be given plenty of chances no doubt (after all they paid 50m for him!!!) but if he doesn't impress/or has another below average season, future won't be looking bright for young Raheem.

Yeah I dunno, I do rate him very highly was disappointed when he went, wouldn't say he went missing on big occasions. Remember City at home 3-2? In fact once he hit his stride that season he was very good in most games. That season once he'd already decided to go in the second half of the season his good performances became rarer and rarer, but I'd say that was more to do with him not giving a **** anymore and wanting out. His finishing is and always has been bad I agree on that, Wouldn't say he is technically bad at all though, good dribbling good control good passing. I think he has got most things, though last season wasn't great it actually wasn't bad. Similarly to the previous one his form dropped as it went on, but 47 games 11 goals 10 assists is not that bad for his position.

He's going to continue to get chances as Pep is the manager regardless of how City have done. I expect him to do well enough, but even if he did leave I think he would have better options than mid-table clubs. Especially if he were willing to go abroad, but we'll see I suppose. I remember last season City were pretty short on home grown players in their squad which is all the more reason they will want their better home grown players to stay. Stones coming in will help that as well of course.

To be fair every attacker was really good during that season (obviously Moses/Aspas aside), yeah props to him he was indeed brilliant at times but I believe it had more to do with brendan playing him as a #10 and him benefitting of having SAS up in front of him. He's not a big game player, goes missing far too often when the going gets tough. Also, he strikes me as a confidence player, if he starts slow and sluggish you just know he's going to be a passenger for the rest of the match.

Agree to disagree Re his technical ability, I'd say hes got a decent dribble but that's down to his speed more then anything. Passing is average at best. Compare his trekkers to Coutinho, Firmino, Mane, let alone Lallana. Not even close.

I think 6(?) of those 11 goals came in two games, I deffo remember a hat trick against Palace. Also had a couple of good cl games but other then that he was bang average most of the time. Remember the league cup final? His misses nearly cost city the cup.

Look, I'm not writing him off he's still young but I think going to city was the wrong decision for his career. We'll see.

(Stones for 50m is an insanely daft move even for City's standards.)

Yeah I'm not sure. I've probably done enough praising of Sterling for the time being don't want to waste too much energy on him. I agree it probably wasn't the best move to go to City but I think he does have a good future for club and country, although with Hodgson mark two (arguably even worse a manager than him at least Hodgson won a few trophies and got to the odd final) in charge that's going to be tough for them all. Think if he leaves City someone good will get him or someone less good and he'll earn himself a better move from there. See they signed another winger so the competition is fiercer, remember seeing that the competition for his place for City wasn't all that strong when they signed him maybe that was partly why he's stagnated a bit, that kind of thing keeps you on your toes.

Yeah Stones for 50 million is mad. Money kind of doesn't matter though for City over-spending doesn't really impact them the money pit is basically limitless and he is exactly the type of Centre back that'll suit Guardiola and think he is going to be a top centre back in a few years, already is pretty great to be honest, like a lot of players suffered from Everton's rut they were in the latter half of last season. Do love the ball playing centre halves (on that - saw an interesting article about Agger the other day about how much pain killing medicine he was having to take during his career, poor guy recommend you look it up quite interesting - https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2016/jul/20/daniel-agger-liverpool-story-athletes-pills).

Fair enough. :p Personally I think we're capable of a top4 finish. Cup would be a nice bonus.

I was thinking that as well, but I don't know who I could sacrifice. Arsenal are Arsenal and I can't leave out United or City. Chelsea? I'm not sure about Chelsea just yet. And will we have a surprise or was that just a one hit wonder?
