Footwork drills for forward movement

I am seeking drills that will help develop quick anticipation for forward movement - hence the overall footwork. Hitting on the run and the opponent hits a drop shot is an example - what are some of the iterative techniques that can be used to master forward diagonal movement?

I searched around and found several drills related to footwork improvement but nothing related to forward movement.

Thank you for your help.

4-corner drill: you're fed a deep ball, then a short ball, then a lob over your head that you're not allowed to smash, then a drop shot.

I'd say getting to the drop shot is slightly different different from hitting on the forward run..

For getting to drop shots, having your coach stand at the net and mimic a drop shot, and you try to get to it. This really helped getting my first step explosive. If you don't take explosive first step, you will NEVER get these balls.

What people neglect a lot of times is "not recognizing" these shots quick enough. Just by concentrating on the ball coming off your opponent's racket, you can be a lot quicker.
