For aggressive Nadal vs Federer on clay, it kind of actually happened

Back in 2007. Guess who is on a RG F highlights spree.
Nadal is Nadal.

Few errors in the beginning but it heats up to enormous levels.

Also for Neo Fed vs Nadal on clay scenario, Federer starts bombing very acute BH at around 3-2. Nadal first loses few points than he adjusts.

Nadal’s FH was unbelievable here. Fed’s BH was half decent as well.

It's irrelevant, really. The only time we could have possibly found out was literally gone with the wind that day. Now it's just too late. Talking about "neo" Fed backhand etc...

All i see is topspin to the backhand. Fed's weak side was defenseless.

That was his entire strategy. Just continuously loop it high to the one handed backhand, retrieve all day and wait for the short ball or error. There was no creativity whatsoever and when he went to the Fed forehand Fed would often gain control of the point. It was such a lame boring strategy and the primary reason why I could never get behind the guy. Federer by contrast is so much better to watch.

Nadal was playing on par with his 2008 RG form in the last 2 sets of this match. 2008 Nadal vs 2007 Fed would end up with something like 6-3 6-4 6-1 for Nadal.

Tennis is about winning mate. If that’s how some players win to each there own. I always wished I was a left handed tennis is so much more simple then.

I can't see 2007 Fed losing in straights against any version of Nadal; he is capable of that one set.2008 Final is the only one Fed has ever lost in straight sets and he played kamikaze tennis in that one :D

Coming from a person who posts rarely, then this does make sense as I assume you give a lot of thought before coming to an definite conclusion..

If the BIG 3 meet each other and they are playing at their best, I don't think a slam match between them can end in straights, doesn't matter if it's Nadal at the French :D
The debate is if 2008 Nadal beats 2007 Federer in 3 or 4. 4 is probably a bit more likely but 3 is possible considering it is Nadal.

Yep and I keep my view that 2007 Fed would win a set against 2008 Nadal There is no significant difference between 2007 Nadal from the final and 2008 Nadal :) The overrating of 2008 Nadal compared to his 2007 or 2012 versions should stop :p

The thing with 2008 Nadal is that he was already in an unplayable "final mode" starting in the earlier rounds. Plus everything else he did that year.

I'd argue that we don't know 2008's true level for lack of a real opponent. Djokovic was the closest thing and he was still thoroughly outclassed.

Fed collapsed so spectacularly in the final, it took nothing special for Rafa to finish him off. Kamikaze is the right word.

True.Fed should feel ashamed every time that match gets mentioned to him lol

From a players perspective yes it’s about winning but from a fans perspective if I’m going to allocate time to watching tennis I want to be entertained. Someone who wins and does it with an entertaining style will always have more fans. There’s a reason why Federer is without question the biggest star in tennis and why Djokovic isn’t nearly as popular despite being a great player.
