For Indian Guys: Who is broadcasting French Open

I switched through the sports channel on Sunday and no one was showing French Open. Was surprised a bit. For the past few years, Ten Sports/Zee Sports used to show French Open. No doubt tennis viewership is low and French Open isn't as lucrative on TV like Australian or Wimbledon, but still tennis fans would love to see it.

So if you know which channel is broadcasting French Open live in India, please show here.

Every channel shows cricket. Lol @ Tennis fans in India. Just lol
Till a few years ago we had super coverage of all Masters and a bunch of 500's and 250's not to mention the slams.
Some of the US Masters used to be replayed in the day in full. That was just great.

Now cricket is taking over everything.

As you said, LOL @ tennis fans in India. Just LOL.

The livestreams can be quite crappy too, stalling every second so you can't see any action.

Thanks. i'll enable Neo Sports and Neo Prime then to see French Open. And I agree with other posters. It's all cricket now.
So whoever gets cricket is winner. Like Sony Six/Sony ESPN has got IPL. So Star Sports has taken the second tier of sports show in India which is EPL.

None of these players can make any impact in singles. Before them Rohan Bopanna, Leander Paes and Sani Mirza tried in singles but soon realized that you want to win tournaments you need to shift to doubles.
Wait for these players to totally leave singles and focus on doubles

We getting two courts on Neo Sports and Neo Prime.

Tata Sky has an exclusive HD channel for telecast Roland Garros, + Neo Prime & Neo Sports :)
I quit Tata Sky since they did not have Neo. Moved to this crappy Videocon. Last I checked Tata Sky still doesn't have Neo. Atleast nothing on the internet that says they have it. I'd love to go back to Sky.

Why would anyone stream it if they can find hd quality on tv for small bucks?
Sometimes there is some exciting match giong on, but TV is showing some French players playing a boring match. Then you have to look for a poor quality stream. e,g, I can't stand Alice Cornet*. I always celebrate when she loses in the FO, so they stop showing all her matches. That is actually the problem with all home crowd players.

* because they show all her matches even when something more exciting is giong on.

They have it now. Though it could be just for the duration of RG.

Hasn't she won something like last 3 grand slams? While she is there because she is Indian, the placement is not entirely outrageous.

Putting the lone doubles player along with ATGs there. As though everyone in India is catching up with Tennis just coz of Mirza. There is no audience for WTA , let alone doubles WTA. That's a different debate though :)

Like many other sports, cricket is fascinating to watch when you know the game/players/history/etc. For eg. I think baseball, soccer and american football are boring as hell (except for the short highlights of goals/touchdowns). Trust me, a good well played cricket match between 2 top teams (even a 5 day testmatch) is as tense and riveting as any 5 set grand slam final.

What is the written rule that GS is meant only for singles players? To be honest Mirza has won more GS than Wawrinka. So if WTA has no audience shouldn't Serena's inclusion too be hilarious? Or is WTA doubles the benchmark of abysmal popularity?

Otherwise your point now looks like: anyone on the cover of a GS with ATG's is hilarious if he is not an ATG himself and not a defending champion and not a singles player. I find that stance hilarious :)

My point was not that. Having Mirza along the lines of some ATG was weird. Nothing else. Understand she is an Indian and Tata sky wants to have her. But she really is not the a crowd puller that Indian viewers root for. That's all.

your comparison of Mirza having more GS titles than Wawrinka is also kind of funny. I'll leave it at this point.

Did you see the telecast yesterday. A ladies match was in a tiebreak. At 6-6 in the TB these asshats put on some adverts and kept on repeating them. I switched to other channel to see that the TB was over.

Can you believe it ? I wish I could tell that operator what a moron he is.

We really don't know that. I do know that when they do show a double match, they often do shove it to some other third channel, so as not to disturb showing the show-courts. So they do understand what the public is watching, i suppose. Earlier they used to show a doubles match with an Indian player over a match with Fedal.

Maybe non-tennis fans only watch if an Indian is playing ? Or maybe they have to show WTA for pc-ness. Maybe they don't want to be accused of not showing local stars.

They always do that. Fortunately I live outside of India and I have access to multiple HD streams from Canadian, US tennis channels. Didn't even bother to turn on Neo sports. The quality of feed is just absolutely horrible. It looks like they used some low quality camera. I mean like WTH? Only Kohli and Cricket sells in India nowadays!

Too much emotional investment in the sport. The number of people left actually crying after they got their a$$es handed to them in the World Cup was unbelievable. Perhaps the Olympics can revive interest in all the other great sporting disciplines?

what streams are you using. Yes neo channels are absolutely worse. Hard to see the ball even[I am getting a weird No signal on these 2 channels on my airtel dth also now, need to call the cc]......On another note, although espn never broadcasted the french, that sony espn just puts me off, we were better with the good old espn

I was extremely vested too. Was super upset when they lost to WI in semis. But you can't win a WC so easily. And WI has a bunch of ball bashers like Tsonga/Blake. You don't know when they will suddenly unleash and turn on the heat.

Not sure what is your bandwidth and internet speed is. I use IPTV and I get all US/international channels. It feeds of the internet from a central server and you need to have a capable device. I pay monthly $12 for my subscription. It may not be worth it for you if you are cash crunched. If you are still interested, PM me.

But to just watch the match, you can use batmanstream . That's what I use at work. been working great.

Yeah, guys like Andre Russell, Gayle, Brathwaite...
The Final was a tough loss - that match was very much there for the taking with 19 off 6 required

Can't hold a bat in ODIs or tests, but man they just close their eyes and swing. England got everything right until the last over. It was a hilarious loss! Brathwaite just shredded them to pieces.

I am on ACT Fibernet which was formerly beam telecom. It is, I think one of the best internet providers in India imo. I am on 40Mbps connection, so no streaming problem. Not cash crunched either ;) . I will have to check on that IPTV subscription

We are talking about 250- 300GB of data usage here. But that is my only source of watching TV here in US (I watch all Indian channels, US + sports on need by basis). All streams are mostly HD. If you don't have bandwidth limitations, PM me and I can walk you through.

Your words were that! A dig at WTA, a dig at doubles WTA then. Wawrinka is not an ATG either. He is a defending champion. Just like Mirza was coming off a 3 Major winning streak. OK, let's leave it at that, one's own choice of words.. I find the term "hilarious" bit insulting there.

Side note: Mirza, Paes and likes are immense crowd pullers for Indian TV especially when they make it to last 4. As a fan watching on TV with tennis-non-fans I have experienced this.
