For Sale posts - should they really be up forever?

Hey @TW Staff,

Wouldn’t it make sense to take for sale posts down once racquets have been sold? Spending way too much time rifling through for sale posts only to find that 99% of listings are out of date.

Or perhaps that’s a deliberate strategy to frustrate people like me into buying new racquets from you guys? If so, that’s actually kinda brilliant.

Agree with the first paragraph, won't comment on the second.

Once the OP says "sold," seems like it should be deleted. Easier searching for us, maybe less space taken up on the forum on the back-end..? (Not sure how that works)

nyc,

Thanks for reaching out and for the feedback. While it is an extra step on our side, we will try out deleting a thread if someone posts that it is sold this week. If we don't run into any issues, we will continue this practice going forward (and update some previous threads).

Thanks,
Brittany, TW

Thanks Brittany, I wonder if that’s something that could be automated - for instance if OP posts “close thread” or something similar that’s not in conflict with one of multiple racquets sold.

In any case, appreciate the extra step!

Agreed. Perhaps a auto-delete at 6 months, and giving the poster the option to delete the original sale post would be the best option. Other forums (such as Reddit / FB Marketplace / etc) have options to label a thread as "SOLD" or "CLOSED".
I've been on these forums long enough to know that most sales probably happen within the first 1-2 weeks of posting, or the seller rapidly decreasing the asking price and it sells (again typically within a few weeks). I can't imagine many sales happen from posts 6+ months old.

That being said, Advanced search by date is a simple enough work around.

Absolutely just delete anything beyond 6 months old. It’s impossible to search the forum.

Also requiring grip size in the L1, L2, etc format in the title would be amazing. It would make searching 15x easier

Agree with grip size. L2/L3 etc is easier than "4 1/4"

I would worry about needing proof of advertisement in the case of a dispute.

Maybe there’s a way to auto delete everything over 6 months old and just leave it at that. Should be long enough for dispute purposes.

@ChanterRacquet,

If for any reason you would need proof of advertisement in case of dispute, we would most likely to be able to pull up the ad for you.

Thanks,
Brittany, TW

@TW Staff I would recommend not immediately deleting threads. I use old sales threads to price my frames. Without those comps, it's not easy to come up with a sales price. Instead can we do something where it automatically archives anything older than 6-12 months? Or give us the ability to close out any sold threads so it's locked and no further posts can be made?

I would argue lack of previous price would help with dunlops and the like. Personally I like the kill
It when it’s sold
