Hankenstein,

I've noticed lately that most times I'm checking out threads on the very latest up-coming frames that we are all drooling over in eager anticipation haha :), you seem to have played these racs well in advance of most of us. IIRC you test frames and write for a Scandinavian tennis publication?

Anyhow, the majority seem to be frames I'm REALLY interested in!... the 2013 APD... the new open pattern pattern Blade... the Steam 99s... the Extreme 2.0 Pro... to name a handful of examples. Furthermore, there has certainly been a good few threads where I and others start bombarding you with questions. But...... rather than thread-jacking, I was thinking it might be a good idea to have your own thread where you can answer the queries of us who are less fortunate than you when it comes to testing out the newest offerings from the likes of Bab, Head, Wilson, etcetera. So...

Re the frames I mentioned above, what order or ranking would you put them in in terms of which you ultimately liked best/worst? Could you give a few insights and reasons for this thinking too.

Hope this is all right, Hank? Thanks,

R

Hank,

I hope you don't mind if I ask about the APD13. Did you find the APD13 to serve with any more power than the APDGT '10, and was the comfort really better or was it just a minimal improvement?

The reason I ask about that is because I use the APDGT '10 and have been tempted to switch to the PDR2012 because it plays so similar to my frame but hits bigger serves. The downsides are worse feel and the increased stiffness is potentially bad for my arm. If I can get the bigger serve of the PD series in a more comfortable/arm friendly package in the APD13, then great.

Thanks.

Think of the 2013 APD compared to the 2010 APD like you do when trying the Blue Pure Drive GT compared to the Active Cortex Black Pure Drive 2012. The difference in feel is similar with the new APD compared to the "old" APD.

You will feel the 2013 is considerably stiffer and don't feel as hollow as the 2010 version, wich, imo, feels really hollow and plastic without silicone in the handle. Its a pretty good update.

Powerwise, not so extremely more, but i think and feel that due to the more solid feel, its easier to swing away and go for the shots and have more control with this update. You will simply feel more confident with the new version.

If you have elbow-problems,, dont use a stiff string then. A soft co-poly like Kirschbaum Pro Line II would be ok in lower tension or a hybrid.

Hi H

Just emailed you directly actually in response to your one, so cool to answer that email or here, or whichever suits.

Yes, I suppose I just wanted a quick little summary of your impressions on new APD, new Blade, Extreme Pro 2 and 99s, how they match up and which worked well for you.

By the way, I want your job - LOL!:)

TIA

Hankenstein and Ross, If you guys can share some details on the new APD 13, Blade 16x19 and Extreme Pro 2.0. I personally liked the Pro 2.0 the most. The only issue I was having with the Pro was getting my 2hand backhand dialed in. For some reason I wasn't able to get good depth and drive on my backhand. I have ordered the Pro again for demo will see if things change.

I'll appreciate if you can compare these racquets and share your insight. Thanks!

Maybe the backhand problem with the Pro (i presume you mean extreme pro and not Aero Pro, right!?) could be the shape of Head´s grip? When I used the Extreme Pro 2.0 I really preferred the more square TK82S pallet over the rectangular TK82 pallet.

In other Head-frames, like the Prestige MP, i like the TK82 pallet the most. Really Strange!!

When comparing those 3 frames, the Blade has the most control

Hi Hank

I last played with the Blade in the K version and I wonder if the new 16 x 19 is a little easier to swing than that one was? Certainly there should be extra power but is there a little extra manouverability?

Atm I am more interested in the 99s. Can you make any comparisons with the 99s?

I have been a long-time user of Rad MPs and 300g type frames. Most recently I have stuck with my BLX Pro Opens - benefit is a little more pop and forgiveness - so that is my yardstick.

...and Ross K tx for this thread :)
