We will have a Masters event without the Big 3.

In each of the past 138 Masters tournaments we got to watch at least one among Djokovic, Federer and Nadal, who have combined for 99 titles at this level.

With Djokovic announcing his withdrawal from 2021 Miami Open about an hour ago, that streak is now officially over.

But don't fear, Mad Lad is here!

Starting with his big run in summer 2019, Med's won a full 50% of the hard court Masters he's contested - 3/6. With a runner-up finish in a fourth. (Also won 50% (1/2) of the WTFs he's played and made the final at 50% (2/4) of the hard court slams he's played in that same span.)

Surely he's a comfortable favorite, right?

This might well be just a blip on the radar lol

The true end of the era shall be when someone other than the Big 3 + Murray ranks as No 1. This hasn't happened since Feb 2004.

Also, if one of those four men wins Wimbledon this year, there will be a minimum of 20 years between non-Big 3 + Murray champs at SW19 (2002 - 2022, or later).
