For the love of God Nadal please pull out from WTF!!!!!

Come on bro!!! Think about the AO....who gives a rats ars about WTF.....Nadal is playing injured and is pulling out of everything again:

Rafael Nadal pulls out of Swiss Indoors 'to regroup fitness and body'

Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from next week's Swiss Indoors tournament in Basel citing fatigue.

The world No1's success since returning from seven months out with knee problems in February has meant a gruelling schedule.

Nadal has always found hard courts the toughest surface on his body and back-to-back tournaments in Beijing and Shanghai appear to have taken their toll.

The 27-year-old reached the final in Beijing before losing to Novak Djokovic – a result that was nevertheless enough to take him above the Serb in the rankings – and was then beaten by Juan Martín del Potro in the Shanghai semi‑finals.

Nadal wrote on his Facebook page: "Hi all, sorry to announce that I won't travel to Basel in Switzerland but after very exhausting weeks I have to regroup my fitness and my body. I will do my best to come back to the Swiss Indoors next year."

It is a blow to the tournament, whose field also includes Roger Federer, Tomas Berdych, Del Potro and Stanislas Wawrinka.

Nadal had been due to play in Basel, where he has never won a match, for the first time since 2004.

The Spaniard's next tournament is scheduled to be the Paris Masters the following week, which leads straight into the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Despite what you think about the WTF, it is regarded as an important tournament and Nadal would like to win it at least once and this year is probably his best chance.

And why the hell would he pull out of one tournament to prepare and recuperate for another tournament that is still more than two months away? What kind of stupid logic is that?

The same logic that has helped him make the greatest comeback of the year....

The same logic Fed admittedly should have used with his bad back.

“They say it themselves and it’s true, the Parisian crowd is pretty stupid. I think the French don’t like it when a Spaniard wins,” he added. “Wanting someone to lose is a slightly conceited way of amusing yourself. They show the stupidity of people who think themselves superior.”

It's so true....they actually booed Nadal.

It seems like a pretty racist country actually......

I mean the French are famous for looking down on everyone and feeling they are better than everyone else especially cultureless Americans ......

But a few years back a **** by the name of le penn or something got a large part of the French vote .

But the booing of Nadal was just horrible . I'm glad Rafa keeps winning the FO.....must drive them crazy .

This troll is becoming more annoying than n s k. :-|

I wonder if that n s k dude is the same idiot as nadal2005rg at tennis frontier.

I have not been there in quite some time but he cant stop talking about nadal there. last time I checked, he had polluted every single thread there with his nadal nonsense.

No. Nadal is not stupid to skip the most important tournament of year outside of the slams, especially when he doesn't have one. Lucky that his ignorant fans are not making a decision for him. Legacy is important, and every players know the WTF is the final showdown of the year.

It's The Final Countdown.

French Open 2009: Rafael Nadal's uncle calls Paris fans 'stupid'

By Telegraph staff and agencies 9:55PM BST 01 Jun 2009
Rafael Nadal's uncle and coach Toni Nadal called Roland Garros spectators stupid on Monday for their treatment of his nephew during his shock French Open loss to Robin Soderling.

The world No 1 was booed by the French crowd when he retired injured from the Paris Masters at Bercy last year and found scant support among the Roland Garros spectators on Sunday during his failed bid for a fifth consecutive title.

In an interview with the Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, Toni Nadal said there was some truth to the phrase: "There is only one set of supporters that is worse than the French and that is the Parisians".

"Wanting someone to lose is a slightly conceited way of amusing yourself. They show the stupidity of people who think themselves superior."

Nadal said after his loss to Soderling it appeared the crowd had been supporting the Swede rather than him at one point, which he called sad.

"This tournament is so important, such a beautiful tournament for me. Well, that's the way it is," he said. "But I wish when I'm back they can support me a bit more in key moments."

Nadal next plays in London at the AEGON Championship on the grass of Queen's Club, one of the pre-Wimbledon tournaments, which begins on June 8.

Don't worry. None of his fans can influence Nadal in making the biggest mistake in his life.

Funny how his fan base want him to be part of the all time great but yet jeopardize his opportunity by skipping the WTF. You never heard Sampras, Fed, Lendl, Agassi or any fan base be crazy enough to wish their favorite player to skip the WTF(known for 5th slam).

LOL TDK is afraid Nadal will lose 2 or maybe 3 times at WTF and look like a chump again.

Come on TDK, Nadal is only 4 slams, 199 weeks at number 1 and 6 WTFs away from being a GOAT candidate! How is he supposed to get those 6 WTFs if he doesn't play them?

What are you talking about?. Nadal is not "playing injured and pulling out of everything again".

:-?

Well, it seems they took note and have behaved themselves better since :)

The reason why Toni expresses his anger is because Nadal lost, not because of the Parisian. Had Nadal beat Soderling, he wouldn't have said anything.

Probably. He would have thought "whatever". I don't see how this matters though.

No, they're just the EXPERTS you rely on to judge how one can or cannot be GOAT! LOL.
So in a few years, when the dust settles on Rafa as it does now on Fed, and all the "experts" picked someone else to be GOAT, then what say you? "Oh, they're all liars, bandwagonners, good-at-nothing!". Will that be your answer?

I never saw the Soderling match in 209, but was it really so bad?, because I never think they're really cheering against him there tbh.

Yes,,.....and not just that match.....other years as well....they literally boo Nadal.

Even when he was a 17 year old teenager.....it's terrible.

But Rafa ignores it and played on.

the joy vibes you could feel in the air at the end of the soderlingement day, across the whole planet (now delivered from the yoke of the evil topspin axis forces), were wonderful. wow, i'm crying again (yeah yeah, like federer) just remembering it... it was such a beautiful moment !

Look at this blog from 2011:

I have given up on the French crowd

I’m not 100% sure of it, but I don’t believe I’ve ever dedicated an entire blog to a tennis crowd. I’ve written about players (of course) and I’ve written about tournaments as a whole...I even once wrote about a tournament director. But never have I been inspired to direct an article at a crowd.

And now that I think on it, I’d have thought that if I WERE to write a blog entry dedicated to the horrid behavior of a group of fans, it might have been directed at the J-block. But even the prospect of dozens of James Blake’s friends treating Arthur Ashe stadium like their own personal Toga party pales in comparison to what happened in Paris today.

For the record, I like a raucous crowd. I love the enthusiasm of the Australian Open fans with their green and yellow wigs and their loud support. I can even get behind the nuttiness of some Davis Cup matches. But I will NEVER understand hating a player for nothing more than winning a lot.

Tennis has had a long tradition of producing players people love to hate. Jimmy Connors, for example, often behaved so badly on court that the entire stadium of people watching him felt as though they were personally fighting with him. Connors enjoyed this, he cultivated it. He swore, he screamed, he employed bad sportsmanship. He deliberately intimidated chair umpires and started fights with fans DURING the match.

And when a player behaves in the way Connors did, fabulous tennis or no, you expect some booing. It’s part of the show after all and well-earned. But for a stadium full of people who did not even WITNESS a match to boo a player for winning a tough 5-setter...well, I’m sorry but that is low rent. Despicable and disrespectful even.

For those of you who haven’t heard, Rafael Nadal was taken to five sets by John Isner on Philipp Chatrier court on Tuesday. For half the match, Isner played magnificent tennis to force Nadal to a 5th set. It was a heck of a fight. The crowd at Chatrier was treated first to Isner’s heart, and then to Nadal’s. They got to witness Isner continue to fight when the fifth set was pretty much lost. They saw Nadal thread brilliant passing shots past the towering American.

When Nadal finally won the fifth set, the result was flashed on the scoreboard in neighboring Suzanne Lenglen stadium. And in response to Nadal’s victory, half the stadium BOOED him. Let me repeat that. They booed him for WINNING. He did not swear at the chair umpire, he didn’t rub out a mark before it could be checked. He didn’t even beat a Frenchman.

I’ve heard all sorts of excuses over the years. Excuses for the ridiculously rude behavior. That he’s Spanish and the French don’t like the Spanish. That he dares to play the sport of tennis with “construction worker” arms. That they prefer to back the underdog. I was even told that he “works too hard” for them, whatever that means.

In the end, it doesn’t really matter why they do it; whatever sorry excuse they come up with will never be good enough. They are guilty of treating a great champion like he’s nothing better than a dog stealing the Easter ham off the dining room table. Instead of giving him the respect that a 5-time champion deserves, they boo him for winning a first round match over a player from a country they despise.

I’d like to think that they’re ashamed of themselves, but I highly doubt it. That’s okay, I’ll be ashamed for them. Congratulations, French crowd – you win the award for Most Classless Fans. Well done!

French crown is famous for booing and no class audience.
I thought everybody knew about it.
But it is something that happens to all players.

Does anyone know how the crowd was in the semifinal Novak-Rafa this year?

Against Ferrer :

Second Set

A security guard grabs a demonstrator who ran on court. (Michel Spingler/AP)

10:48 a.m. ET | Nadal wins the second set, leads 6-3, 6-2.

A protest of some sort has broken out in the top deck of Chatrier. Nadal is just staring up there waiting for it be taken care of as the crowd boos and whistles. Weird. That’s bad luck for Ferrer, who is down 15-30 when he has to wait out that delay for a few minutes.

Ferrer loses the first point when play resumes to fall behind 15-40, but gamely saves both break points to get back to deuce. But a backhand error gives Nadal another break point and he doesn’t miss this one, hitting a backhand winner for a 5-1 lead.

And now a shirtless protester has run down on court with an ignited flare! Nadal sprints towards the court exit to get away from the guy. Court security tackles the man over the barrier and he’s finally taken off court. A fire extinguisher is taken to the flame.

Nadal now has to try to serve out this set? Ridiculous. Nadal is broken, and then Ferrer is broken at love for the set. What a stupid ending to that set, which was no fault of the players. How were they expected to play good tennis after that?

Remember this juncture…fan starts a fire on the court. Play resumes but how can nadal not be freaked out…—

This year marked the 20th anniversary of Monica Seles’ on-court stabbing. I wrote a post about tennis security issues and I’ll just reiterate what I wrote then: “I get absolutely livid when I see incidents like these. In a sport that has seen the most horrific attack on a star player rewrite the course of tennis history, these security breaches — again, I repeat, these are happening at the Slams — are shocking.”

So why were they supporting Ferrer? He's from Spain too... :-?

Rafael Nadal’s first appearance at Roland Garros.

Nadal has experienced his fair share of enmity from the Parisian crowds. Travel back to Rafa’s debut at Roland Garros in 2005, and his fourth-round match against Frenchman Sebastian Grosjean and your ears will bleed when you hear the reaction of the crowd following a (correct) line call from the umpire that went against Grosjean. The boos, hisses and whistles were so intense, it took seven minutes for play to resume. “The crowd didn’t behave the way they should behave when watching a game of tennis,” Nadal, who was 18, later said. The Majorcan went on to win the match and the tournament.

I remember when a crazy Nadal fan probably TDK ran onto the court during the FO 2009 final and tried to force Federer to wear a hat or something. If I was Roger, I would have smashed my racket on his head.

I never saw the Soderling match in 209, but was it really so bad?, because I never think they're really cheering against him there tbh.

Yes, at some point they've started chanting Soderling's name. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but it was obvious they weren't doing it because they liked Soderling.
The situation has changed in the last couple of years. They've been pretty nice, the whole stadium sang happy birthday this year and even when he was close to losing to Djokovic the behaviour was nowhere near 2009 level.

what happened in this second set had nothing to do with Ferrer or Nadal, it was a "political" (stupid and useless) move, at that time our President was about to legalize homosexual marriage and lots of people disagreed.

Yes i noticed the same thing as well, Nadal seems to have earned more respect from the Paris crowd, not sure how and why but it's a good thing of course!

Top 10 times French crowd gets nasty

Sunday, 27 May 2012

Rafael Nadal’s uncle Toni calls the Parisian crowds “stupid”. The Spaniard and four time defending champion felt the first glitch on his record in 2009. However, it was not the first, or last, time he’d feel negative vibes from the crowd in Paris. During his fourth-round loss to Robin Soderling, Nadal was not on the end of any notable whistling, rather deathly silence. Hs uncle, Toni, told a Spanish radio station: “There is only one set of supporters that is worse than the French and that is the Parisians. They say it themselves and it’s true, the Parisian crowd is pretty stupid. I think the French don’t like it when a Spaniard wins. Wanting someone to lose is a slightly conceited way of amusing yourself. They show the stupidity of people who think themselves superior.”

Maria Sharapova at Roland Garros. Twice at Roland Garros, the crowds have turned on Sharapova, because of an apparent dislike for her grunting and what they regard as her Americanised ways. Sharapova became so frustrated in her defeat to Dinara Safina in 2009, she berated the crowd on the Suzanne Lenglen Court by shouting: “Allez… Up your f—— ***.” When asked about the crowd’s behaviour, Sharapova said: “They paid for a ticket to watch me so they must appreciate me on some level, right?”

The Majorcan went on to win the match and the tournament.

2003 French Open Semi-final, Justine Henin vs Serena Williams. French TV coverage showed cartoon drawings of Serena throughout the tournament which both had racist undertones and questioned her gender. In her semi-final match, a couple of line calls went in Serena’s favour, and she had the 15,000-strong crowd on her back too. The American broke down in tears during the press conference: “From the first point, the crowd was psycho. I think I did a pretty good job to carry on.”

Michelle Larcher de Brito breaks down. Larcher de Brito makes Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka’s grunts sound like squeaks from a church mouse. The 2009 Roland Garros crowd didn’t take too kindly to the Portuguese teen’s screams, and they were not going to let her leave the tournament without letting her know their feelings. The fact Larcher de Brito was playing French woman Aravane Rezai didn’t help her cause either.

Andy Murray plays to win. If a player is unfortunate enough to become injured during a match, should the opponent also lower his level to give them a chance? Yes, according to the French crowd present at the 2011 Monte Carlo Masters match between Murray and Gilles Simon. When the Frenchman twisted his ankle, Murray took advantage of this and continually hit drop shots which Simon could not reach due to his restricted movement. Cue a barracking more familiar 400-odd miles north in Paris. “I wasn’t bothered at all, I did what I had to do,” said the British No 1.

Martina Hingis vs Steffi Graf. The crowd turned on Hingis during the 1999 final, against Steffi Graf, after she crossed the net to check a mark on the clay. Graf, who had been three points from defeat, would go on to win the title.

Crowds on Court Suzanne Lenglen hiss about a Nadal match they haven’t even witnessed. The French love an underdog. It looked like it could be the day of the underdog when John Isner took Rafael Nadal to five sets in the first round of the French Open in 2011. But as he so often does, Nadal managed to grind out the win. When the result was flashed on to the screens of the Court Suzanne Lenglen, the news was met with some boos and hisses.

John McEnroe vs Paris. Never has the idiom ‘in the wrong place at the wrong time’ been more appropriate. John McEnroe’s infamous tantrums may be been embraced and laughed off by any other crowd, but not at Roland Garros. When McEnroe lost his cool during a second set tie break during the fourth round of his match against Ivan Lendl in 1988, he really did feel the wrath of the crowd, even after requests of ‘silence’ and ‘sil vous plait’ from the umpire. McEnroe went on to lose the tie break and the match in four sets.

Andy Murray in Monte Carlo… Again. Andy Murray faced Nikolay Davydenko in Monte Carlo in 2009. The umpire climbed down from his chair to check a mark, and showed Murray which one it was. Murray misunderstood the umpire and thought he had called the ball ‘in’ causing Murray to, in a state of disbelief, shout at the top of his voice: “No way! That ball was out!” As with any sign of a rebellion from a player, his reaction was met with jeers from the crowd. The ball was out and Murray won the point. Unlike the crowd, Davydenko saw the funny side.

Yes a racist country that gets right behind Tsonga and Monfils. Yeah right! Parisienne's love Federer for his style and flair, and they have never warmed to Nadal.
