For the love of God Nadal please pull out from WTF!!!!!

noe is going to be out of gas sooner or later.

that is when you strike.

nadal needs to grab a few points in paris and then just take it easy.

nadal would be a fool to go after the paris masters title.

Novak seems obsessed about being nr 1(when you saw his frustration on court in Shanghai after he was 2 again). Novak must win Paris to have a chance being nr 1 again. Depends about Paris draw, but if he has to face Delpo he might be in trouble using alot of energy.

Agree about Nadal not need to try so hard winning Paris. But he didnt seem so interested in China either. Something tells me it is the WTF is in his head now.
(please Fed or Novak fans... I am not trying to make excuses for Nadal)

nadal is a killer.

he really cant be stopped once he makes up his mind.

and you also have to have a few breaks go your way in this sport.

like I said, nole will out of gas soon. winning is a lot less tiring.

nadal has won a lot this year but he also has learned now to take it easy at the end of the season.

now nadal will wait for his opening at wtf and then go for his head.

Is feel better if he rested up now. All these tournaments right now don't mean anything to Me.

I want that AO!!!

It is not like I dont want Nadal to win AO.
But it would be great if he managed to win indoor WTF.. just once. He still has time to recover after WTF.

Sure id like him to win everything all the time ....but he is saying he is tired. He just withdrew from a tournament......

I'm just worried. This AO is really important......it may just be the defining moment of his career.

Think about it if he wins the AO he will have won every slam multiple times and have equaled Sampras' record. Not to mention he would only be 3 behind Fed which can easily be explained ......3 slams loss to Djoker or 4 slam wins over Roddick by Fed......that's not gonna hold water.

If Nadal wins this AO I think he will actually be the virtually undisputed GOAT.......it's that important

Oh, there'd be nothing undisputed about it :)

I don't see anyway how playing the WTF would mean he's somehow lowering his chances of winning the AO. Both tournaments are really not that close.

I hope your right Crisstti....I hope your right!

But why on earth even take a chance ? Lets say he slips and has a bad injury? I want him to treat those knees like a fine piece of china.

Ok first off stop with the over-caring! seriously :)

Secondly, Nadal can slip in the bathroom tomorrow and damage his knees. Wouldn't it be more productive for him to be on a wheelchair until the AO??

Oh, but he could slip and have a bad injury while practising at home in Mallorca. Or in Paris. Or in the exos in South America. Or in the warm ups for the AO.

Don't worry so much. I understand you really, I worry about things too much myself, but he's a tennis player, he likes to play tennis, so let him play :)
He also wants I'm sure a WTF title and the YE number one, and he has a good shot.

It's not that likely anyway in tennis for accidents like that to happen.

Ok NO. He needs to break Fed's record to be the virtually undisputed GOAT and even then there will be disputes.

But In all honesty, I think Djoker is just too tough in Melbourne. I think he's going to pick up his 5th title there next year.

Let's hope not :)

It would be interesting to see any of the 4 win actually! If Djoker wins he would be GOAT of Australia with 5 slams there and 7 overall, if Fed wins HE would be the GOAT of Australia and further cement himself as the GOAT of tennis with 5 slams there and 18 slams overall. If Nadal wins, he would have won all 4 majors at least twice and he would have overtaken Sampras in the GOAT debate with 2 slams there and 14 overall, if Murray wins he wouldve won 3 of the 4 slams and he would also be needing just one to have the career slam with 1 slam there and 3 overall.

Ok NO. He needs to break Fed's record to be the virtually undisputed GOAT and even then there will be disputes.

Let's wait and see what the media does......my prediction is if he wins that AO he will be called the goat by the media......and also

If he wins that AO he is virtually a lock for the FO which means he will be at 15.......

This AO coming up is incredibly important for Nadals place in history.

He would be inching close thats for sure! But I don't think he would pronounced GOAT by most just yet. But yeah I would like Fed to win some more. I know this place would ERUPT if that happened (may not be in a good way) but that would be awesome. Haven't seen Fed in a second week in slam in a while.

It's gonna be tight. This AO is of incredible importance to all 4 of them.......

I cannot wait .

I think roger is going to take home the basel title and start setting the tables a little bit for 2014.

he did say he wanted to come back stronger in 2014.

see you are reading my posts. well I don't blame you. I am the greatest poster on the planet.

Australian open title for nadal is my key barometer:

its over if he takes it. he will most assuredly go for the record if he snatches up the Oz title.

as for goats and sheeps, well that is your business.. I don't bother with such crap.

there is tennis to be enjoyed than to worry day and night about who is a goat and who is a sheep and who is a cow.

that is the stuff of the small minds.

leave that for tmf. he has made a religion out of it. next he will build a church called "the tmf church of holy madness and divine insanity".

I really hope you are right!! The next thing we need is Murray to recover from his surgery. Then 2014 will be AWESOMETACULAR!!

Hahahahaha! This made my day! (or night as I am finally going to sleep)
I am also not so worried about goats. BUT I am a nerve wreck when the GS´s are going on. Soon I have to take a pill like Rafas grandmother sometimes do to not get a heart attack during matches.

Nadal can take home another AO, Novak is not that superior there, has been some close matches. If it wasnt for Andy recent injury I would think Andy would have been same big threat for Nadal as Novak.

see you tomorrow.

If Nadal pulls out, that could become an early Christmas gift for Novak. If Novak wins WTF and Nadall gets 0 point, that will be 1,500 points that Djokovic will have over Nadal. Unless Nadal wins in Bercy, he can't afford to skip WTF if he cares about year-end no.1 ranking.

Novak can't win any points at WTF. He's defending points. Novak will win 0 points, and if he doesn't win loses points. Novak can only gain points doing well at Bercy, which may be tiring for WTF. It's a double edged sword for Novak.

Current ranking points:

1 Nadal, Rafael (ESP) 11,520
2 Djokovic, Novak (SRB) 11,120

If Nadal wins Paris Masters, he will be the year-end no. 1. He only needs to reach to the final of Paris Masters, I think, to confirm his year-end no.1 spot.

If, however, Djokovic wins in Paris and then also wins WTF without dropping a match, and Nadal doesn't reach to the final of Paris Masters and skips WTF, then Djokovic will overtake Nadal in the rankings.

There is, BTW, i more factor in the year-end no.1. If Novak wins the singles matches in the Davis Cup Final, he will gain extra points, and I'm not really sure about the rules on that. Anyway, if Nadal wins in Bercy, he will be year-end no.1 regardless of what happens next. Of course, Djokovic can help Nadal's campain by losing early at Paris Masters. However, assuming Djokovic reaches to the final there, Nadal must win it if he is to be year-end no.1 even without playing in WTF.

How many points can Djokovic win if he wins both singles rubbers at the Davis Cup final in November? I wonder if it will be the first time that someone is number 1 at the end of the WTF (say Nadal) and then someone else takes over after Davis Cup (say Djokovic).

I don't know if Djokovic has been unbeaten this year in Davis Cup - but if he hasn't been beaten - he is in for some points bonus' if his team wins and he wins both rubbers! Potentially up to 350 points!

In the finals, a player will earn 75 points for each win, so Djokovic can win 150 points by winning both singles rubbers.

I think if Nadal wins a couple of rounds in Paris, QF or something, it should be enough to confirm his YE1. Because Djokovic is defending 1500 pts in WTF so Nadal has everything up for grabs there.

Djokovic lost early last year in Bercy and he only ha 10 points to defend there. If Djokovic does that again, then you are right, Nadal doesn't have to win it. However, assuming both Djokovic and Nadal get to the final, Nadal can only make sure of his year-end no.1 ranking by winning it. If Nadal loses to Djokovic in the final, then Nadal needs to win a match in WTF and then he can pull out of the tournament without losing no.1 spot, I think.

Have you factored in the points that Djokovic can win in the Davis cup finals?

For an unbeaten singles player (during the whole Davis Cup year)- they can add 350 points, in the Davis Cup final, if they win the cup and win both rubbers.

Wow - so Djokovic can get 350 points from the Davis Cup final!

Djokovic has won all 5 singles matches in DC he has played so far in 2013.

dunno about bonus pts though.

See the link in the above post that explains the bonus points. So Djokovic can get up to 350 points from the Davis Cup finals!

Boy it is going to be really embarrasing if they award the year end number 1 trophy to Nadal after the WTF, if they forget about the Davis Cup, and then Djokovic takes back the number 1 ranking after the Davis Cup!

CORRECTION: It is only the higher of the two bonus - so Djokovic can learn 275 points from the Davis cup finals.

If he wins both matches but his team loses - then he gets 75+75+bonus 75 = 225

If he wins both matches and his team wins - then he gets 75+75+bonus 125 = 275

Nadal has to play Paris and WTF if he wants a chance of finishing YE number 1.

Djokovic can amass points in three events (Paris, WTF and Davis Cup (up to 275 points for DC final)) whereas Nadal can only add Paris and WTF. It will be frustating for Nadal if he is ahead by less than 275 after the WTF, he will just have to wait and see if Djokovic will be the year end number 1 after the Davis Cup.

Come on bro!!! Think about the AO....who gives a rats ars about WTF.....Nadal is playing injured and is pulling out of everything again:

Rafael Nadal pulls out of Swiss Indoors 'to regroup fitness and body'

Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from next week's Swiss Indoors tournament in Basel citing fatigue.

The world No1's success since returning from seven months out with knee problems in February has meant a gruelling schedule.

Nadal has always found hard courts the toughest surface on his body and back-to-back tournaments in Beijing and Shanghai appear to have taken their toll.

The 27-year-old reached the final in Beijing before losing to Novak Djokovic – a result that was nevertheless enough to take him above the Serb in the rankings – and was then beaten by Juan Martín del Potro in the Shanghai semi‑finals.

Nadal wrote on his Facebook page: "Hi all, sorry to announce that I won't travel to Basel in Switzerland but after very exhausting weeks I have to regroup my fitness and my body. I will do my best to come back to the Swiss Indoors next year."

It is a blow to the tournament, whose field also includes Roger Federer, Tomas Berdych, Del Potro and Stanislas Wawrinka.

Nadal had been due to play in Basel, where he has never won a match, for the first time since 2004.

The Spaniard's next tournament is scheduled to be the Paris Masters the following week, which leads straight into the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Are you trying to give the final 3 (in the running) jockeying for position to reach the Finals a free pass or you realized Rafa isn't going to win the WTF anyways?:)

On the AO, erm...I think it is always best for him to take a longer rest (maybe not a 7 month lay off), 5-6 months will do, just in time for the RG again--well timed!:) He is a lock anyway for a 9th RG.
