For the love of God Nadal please pull out from WTF!!!!!

Come on bro!!! Think about the AO....who gives a rats ars about WTF.....Nadal is playing injured and is pulling out of everything again:

Rafael Nadal pulls out of Swiss Indoors 'to regroup fitness and body'

Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from next week's Swiss Indoors tournament in Basel citing fatigue.

The world No1's success since returning from seven months out with knee problems in February has meant a gruelling schedule.

Nadal has always found hard courts the toughest surface on his body and back-to-back tournaments in Beijing and Shanghai appear to have taken their toll.

The 27-year-old reached the final in Beijing before losing to Novak Djokovic – a result that was nevertheless enough to take him above the Serb in the rankings – and was then beaten by Juan Martín del Potro in the Shanghai semi‑finals.

Nadal wrote on his Facebook page: "Hi all, sorry to announce that I won't travel to Basel in Switzerland but after very exhausting weeks I have to regroup my fitness and my body. I will do my best to come back to the Swiss Indoors next year."

It is a blow to the tournament, whose field also includes Roger Federer, Tomas Berdych, Del Potro and Stanislas Wawrinka.

Nadal had been due to play in Basel, where he has never won a match, for the first time since 2004.

The Spaniard's next tournament is scheduled to be the Paris Masters the following week, which leads straight into the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

i can see you are very frustrated and worried.. :(
poor thing.

French Open 2009: Rafael Nadal's uncle calls Paris fans 'stupid'

By Telegraph staff and agencies 9:55PM BST 01 Jun 2009
Rafael Nadal's uncle and coach Toni Nadal called Roland Garros spectators stupid on Monday for their treatment of his nephew during his shock French Open loss to Robin Soderling.

The world No 1 was booed by the French crowd when he retired injured from the Paris Masters at Bercy last year and found scant support among the Roland Garros spectators on Sunday during his failed bid for a fifth consecutive title.

In an interview with the Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, Toni Nadal said there was some truth to the phrase: "There is only one set of supporters that is worse than the French and that is the Parisians".

"They say it themselves and it's true, the Parisian crowd is pretty stupid. I think the French don't like it when a Spaniard wins," he added.

"Wanting someone to lose is a slightly conceited way of amusing yourself. They show the stupidity of people who think themselves superior."

Nadal said after his loss to Soderling it appeared the crowd had been supporting the Swede rather than him at one point, which he called sad.

"This tournament is so important, such a beautiful tournament for me. Well, that's the way it is," he said. "But I wish when I'm back they can support me a bit more in key moments."

Nadal next plays in London at the AEGON Championship on the grass of Queen's Club, one of the pre-Wimbledon tournaments, which begins on June 8.

Uncle Toni is a dope - good athletic genes but a bit slow in the head.

But surely you care about the year-end ranking? That's probably the second most important factor in GOAT discussions, only behind number of Grand Slam titles.

Not at all. I know it is a factor but I don't value it on the least......I happen to think it's meaningless .

First of all the rankings are not based on full tennis matches.....only on partial ones.

Second it rewards those who play the most ......people
Like former #1 Rios , wozniaki , Jankovic .

Third .....as it promotes playing more so promoters get rich it ruins the quality of tennis.....even Fed forces himself to play with a bad back. Other players were smarter and took the rest they needed to win slams.....players like Sampras , Williams and now Nadal.......there's a lot to be said about forgetting about the rankings and resting your body for the slams.

Nadal has to play Paris and WTF if he wants a chance of finishing YE number 1.

Djokovic can amass points in three events (Paris, WTF and Davis Cup (up to 275 points for DC final)) whereas Nadal can only add Paris and WTF. It will be frustating for Nadal if he is ahead by less than 275 after the WTF, he will just have to wait and see if Djokovic will be the year end number 1 after the Davis Cup.

Well, I'm thinking if Rafa cared that much for the YE number 1 he would then have played in Basel. He surely must be aware of the DC points.

I'd be interested to read your perfect ranking system. So how does it go? How do you award points, gained and defended, and lost, etc.?
I'm bookmarking this thread and your answer to refer to it later as the perfect ranking system.
Floor is yours.

There should be a rule that a guy can make only 2 threads a day. Cuz this is getting ridiculous.

TDK, how much are you bribing admins? :)

I think he dropped Basel because he wants to win the WTF. It is the only important title he hasn't won, so he will be focused on it. He wants to be relatively fresh for it. And that I think is the right strategy from his point of view. Having said that, I pick Del Potro to win the WTF.

Ops agenda is clear, trying to diminish wtf. Because I don't see how playing a wtf could even have any effects to the AO preperations. After Wtf you get tons of time off between the AO.

And Nole and Fed won 8 WTFs combined and this didn't stop them winning 8 Australian opens, lol.

You play only 5 matches, only 3 sets. And it's fast indoor, so you don't even punish your body as much.

luckily for me I only see the dark tights when he is quoted, but that wtf line made me laugh..its not a proper tourney because its got fireworks :)

how mental is that ??...that's like saying the u s open does not count because its got folk eating burgers and pizza's above the courts in those restaurants while watching and cos they have singing before the start of some matches..:)

That's the reason I like TDK. He's comedy gold.

What I said is that the WTF has the "feel"
Of an exhibition......with it's round robin format , fireworks and smoke as the players come out with music and a light show ......

It feels like that guy from the WWF is about to come out and say :

"lets get ready to ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumble"

Why do you have to twist enerything

Says mr. "rankings shouldn't matter at all".

You're like the biggest 'twister' on the forums.

Huge difference

I said they SHOULDNT matter IMO ......but unfortunately regardless of what I think they do in fact matter.

You on the other hand say the WTF does matter as to who is the goat.....in fact it's a lie and does not matter to the greats, the media, sports writers .

My statement is an opinion and your statement is a lie .

I will settle this:

wtf matters only if the rankings are close and can be settled there.

other than that it is a meaningless event in the long run scheme of things. nobody gives a damn about it.

they want to know head to head, the slams, Olympic glory, and davis cup wins.

even the years #1 do not matter. I thought people should have been able to figure that out. even Carolyn wozniacki reached #1 in the world.

one other thing: it is also important to have a winning record against 100% of the top 30 players. that is a pretty damn good indicator of if you were great or not.

who you win your slams against is also important. your opponents in the slam finals cant be chumps.

Thanks bro :-)

So long as we are sensible most of the time, who cares about being ridiculous from time to time?:) That's what makes these exchanges fun and enjoyable.

One word of caution, don't try to sell the plush feel of a Cadillac, you should be in an Aventador!:)

...and again, WTF is prestigous, Olympics is glorious and Wimbledon is THE Championships and tradition!

...and not Fed's fault if Nadal wasn't there in THAT finals to deny Fed's lone RG!:) Agree, gladiator?

Nadal should try to win the WTF. Does he NEED it? No... will it look bad if he doesn't win at least one? Yes... and there's no denying that.

but he does not need to kill himself trying to win the damn thing either.

here is a question: is there any other player out there who has been dominating the clay circuit for a decade?

exactly. it takes a lot out of him during this part of the season.

he is just one man.

people want him to win everything in sight for the entire year. there wont be anything left for others if he took everything under the sun.

there are other reasons why he has not done well at the end of the season. we will explore those tomorrow.

stay tuned.

I think you are biased against WTF because Ralph has never won it. WTF is a great tournament and I have really enjoyed watching it the last few years.

True, but I still don't see how playing WTF can ruin your AO preparations. I don't see the connection.

Fed and Nole won 8 WTFs and 8 AOs combined. Agassi and Pete did it and they are not exactly physical specimens.

I am biased....I want Nadal to be the goat .

If he wins the WTF will that help his quest??

No it won't .....but is he at risk of injury ? Yes he is.

So why play it? For the money .....ok .....but I'm not getting richer because of it so I don't care about that.

I'm a fan and I want Nadal to do everything he can to win the AO.

I have nothing against the WTF......in fact I truly want Federer to win it .....

I want Federer to get his confidence up . I don't want Fedal to end.....

Having said that......I want Nadal fresh as a daisy for the AO and this tournament cannot benefit him in any way .

Is it still a great tournament and something I will watch .....absolutely !!!!!

Will be great!!! But I see the big picture and the AO is what I want Nadal to
Think about right now.

He is not agnostic.
I always see him pulling out faith from those undies throughout the match.

So now we resort to attacking Nadals beliefs?

Why do you care what people believe? It's his right. And it is actually quite a logical view.....

An agnostic doesn't say there is no God , rather he says "I don't know unless I see some proof".

Why is being a Christian any more logical? You on the other hand have blind faith ......and why? It's because we were all brainwashed by our parents.......

You never looked at religion and decided it for yourself ......at least Rafa was brave enough to resist the brainwashing and say "hey I'm not going to accept everything because you tell me that's the way it is".

If that's true, why does Rafa say Fed is the goat? If he is not religious and speaks the truth, doesn't this prove Fed is goat?

Why doesn't Fed say Rafa is goat?

If that's true, why does Rafa say Fed is the goat? If he is not religious and speaks the truth, doesn't this prove Fed is goat?

Look it's a valid opinion to say Fed is the goat.....I don't agree with it personally.....but I cannot say it's not true.....

Well let me rephrase that.....

It's really not valid to declare either of them the goat at this point because their careers are not over.

We can argue over who is in the lead .....but they are both still playing and their careers are not over . To declare one as the goat now is an exercise in futility .

We just have to wait.

If that's true, why does Rafa say Fed is the goat? If he is not religious and speaks the truth, doesn't this prove Fed is goat?

Why doesn't Fed say Rafa is goat?

because maybe Rafa genuinely thinks Fed is the GOAT. and that's what is really endearing about Rafa. He is humble, always has the utmost respect for his opponents -- any opponent -- and just wants to compete.

And he is entitled to his opinion ....

But the one fact that is true is that their careers are not over .

The fact is the race for goat is still very much on.....and to declare a
Winner before they reach the finish line is just not proper.

In that case, you don't know if Nadal is better than Murray. The race is still on, their careers are not over yet.

Hey, Raonic might win 20 majors, the race is never over.

Rafa has a chance to become goat. But he is not now. And you have to accept it.

Technically no you don't .

You see that's the problem we all got into with Fed......

Roger was so far ahead of Nadal at the beginning that everyone jumped on the bandwagon and declared Roger the goat .

Who would have thought we would be sitting here with Nadal having 13 slams on all surfaces ? He was just some clay court dirt baller right?

But Nadal surprised everyone and people are rethinking their earlier statements. That's why you see a guy like Mcenroe changing his mind......not because he is evil or stupid .....but because he is brave enough to say that he may have jumped the gun.

It's never over till it's over .....and yes Murray may surprise everyone ......

Joker for example surprised us and actually he was one win away from being declared the goat ....if he would of won that FO it would have been a calendar slam ....not technically but close enough.

So you see the old adage is very true "it ain't over till it's over"

So, Nadal is not clay goat, technically. A guy can come in the future who will win 10 RG titles.

Why doesn't Fed say Rafa is goat?

Indeed Nadal is a very modest person, but you are right, I really believe Rafa genuinely thinks RF is the GOAT.
Figures don't lie: 302 / 17 ... Nadal can become the GOAT one day, but he still has to work very hard for it in the next 3-4 years.

Well now your just trying to argue for the sake of arguing .

Nadal currently holds the world record for FO slams. He has almost won it every year he was in it .....

For someone to come close to Nadal starting today would take a decade......so it's pretty safe to declare Nadal clay court goat now.

But to declare Fed goat with only 4 slams between them and Nadal having a h2h so far ahead wouldn't be right.

Things could change in a second .....for example Federer could surprise you and beat Nadal in the finals of the AO or Wimbledon .

Nadal could win the AO and the FO and within a matter if months everything changes .

It's just to close to call right now.

No your declaring fed the goat now.

It's arguable.....I could come back with h2h or 8-2 in olynpics etc etc .....
But that would just end in endless debate....do you know why??

Because it is in fact arguable ....Agassi, Sampras , mcenroe are right.....it's arguable at the moment .....and we just have to wait and see.

Nadal has 2 RG more than Borg. That is way less than 4 majors gap that Fed has over Nadal, and you call Rafa the clay goat but Fed not the goat?

This is not fair.
