i thought these interviews of each of them were interesting to compare...both the same age, after a loss, after a match winning streak to show that ppl who defend kyrgios behavior because of his age or that hes no worse than mcenroe are wrong... and that mac misbehaved only because he wanted to win so badly, unlike kyrgios.. probly old news to most but i thought the comparison is interesting here since they are the same ages, going through similar things yet handle themselves differently.

...granted it takes mac a couple minutes to come out, haha

Johnny Mac looks ( not acts ) like a baby in this interview....I will say this after watching this Kyrgios interview, I saw him this year in Atlanta and paid over 250 dollars for the tickets... his match I might add. That's a very poor choice of words he just gave .

His talent was unmatched, but he didn't train hard enough to reach his full potential.
that's the word on the street & i think mac himself would say the same but to his credit he did play alot of matches usually singles & doubles (using doubles as practice & going far in draw), and he worked hard at hopmans.. i think maybe he started slacking off too much when he was with tatum o neal & went hollywood.. also being friends with vitas & growing up in late 70s in NY probly didn't help much either...the wheels seemed to come off when fitness/strength started to become as important as having ball skills..

But Kygrios is playing now. John is commentating on his matches, now. Organizers aren't trying to sell tickets to the main draw of the Australian Open 2017 by using controversial headlines from Mac or the fact that Mac is in the booth.
Like it or not, Nick makes the headlines with his behavior. People come to watch Nick to see when and if he'll lose his cool. I go to Nascar races and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping for a big crash. Of course you want to be there when that happens.
There is so much to make a tennis player lose it. So much on the line. Everything counts. Ranking points, prize money. Not everyone can keep their cool. It's so much pressure.

Nick is important to the game. Hate on him all you like. I don't like him at all but I don't think people are staying away from the tournaments he plays. Quite the opposite.

The 1994 Winter Olympics got the highest ratings because of two people. Tonya and Nancy. And it was a horrible incident. But everyone tuned in. They haven't had numbers like that since and won't, unfortunately.
The ATP needs Nick. The WTA needs a pretty face. This is the age of anonymous messageboard/social media haterz. And everyone is a hater lol. Everyone wants to be angry about something.
But there is balance.. If they're lucky the ATP will also have a Federer and the WTA a Kim Clijsters. The good guys so to speak. That sells, as well.

i see your point but like cliff drysdales says i think we agree to disagree...as of now i don't think he's important to the game & i don't think the ATP needs him.. its one thing to misbehave like mac & serena but its another thing to tank games and disrespect the game, opponents, & fans...just because something/someone makes the news doesn't automatically mean its good for the game imo...but maybe I'm wrong.. he did get paid an appearance fee to play the IPTL so that must mean there is some kind of demand for him..
