For those with young kids - how do you make time for tennis?

My wife and I have a 6 month old, and between work, the baby, house chores, trying to give my wife a break as well, it just seems impossible to play tennis sometimes, especially with the timing of most people being free after work. Side note, my wife is staying at home w/ the baby.

It's hard to justify going to work for 8-9 hours and then playing tennis for another 1-1.5 hours, while my wife is with our baby at home all day.

How do you guys fit it in?

You sound like a good man. But, you do need to take care of yourself, too. You're working to support your family, you deserve some exercise and fun time (tennis) too. And, hopefully your wife has a passion, and you can help her have time for that.

I didn’t play much tennis on weekdays when my kids were young - played early in the morning for a couple of hours on weekends and sometimes 1 evening during the week. My wife was tolerant of me playing a few times a week and ditching my ‘baby duties’ so that I would get some exercise as I don’t like running or going to the gym otherwise. Most adults don’t play much when their kids are very young. To be honest, I wanted to spend a lot of time with my kids when they were babies and so tennis wasn’t a priority apart from getting some exercise on court.

I didn't. Once my kids were older, it was easier to find time to play. And I came to tennis in my late 40s. As a father of 4 daughters with one still in high school, I would tell you to enjoy any time you get to spend with your kids.

the story is, with two kids: one 2 years old one 6 months, you really need to be a big egoist to take weekends for yourself and go to tennis.

its near impossible to have time for tennis except you are a millionaire and can afford to go to tennis when your little is in kindergarten.

or scenario 2: your wife really takes up all the work. good luck with that.

like you said.

ITS HARDLY to justify. and if you have a "strong" woman its even harder

I have a 4 year old and an 8 month old. My compromise is 6am sessions, twice a week, when the household is asleep.

At those timings, all my hitting partners are dads with young kids ☺️

Haha that's what I've been aiming to do, early sessions before work. Or if I get off work early sneaking in a session before coming home...and throwing back on my work clothes:whistle:
