Hi Troy,

I was wondering if you could compare the Prince Phantom 93P (18x20) to the new ProKennex Ki Q+ Tour Pro (315)? If you wanted to give me insights to the 93P (14x18) that would be most welcome as well.

I like the classic box beam feel and as I age I need to look after the elbow and shoulder better.

I hit with the 93P tonight and it was a revelation compared to my modified Dunlop Biomimetic 300 (The 300 Tour was one of my favorite rackets as well). While I like the 93P, I don’t imagine I play enough to keep up with it.

Does the Prokennex have a similar solid feel, or is it simply a muted feel?

Appreciate any insights you can offer.

Cheers

@Tao69,
When it comes to spin, and a higher launch angle, the 93P 14x18 and the Tour Pro 315 are more similar. They are both very spin friendly, but I found even more arc, and RPMs on my shots with the 93P 14x18. The 93P 14x18 makes it so much easier to spin the ball, and get the ball up and down, over the net, when compared to the 18x20 version. That said, there is so much vertical action on my shots with the 14x18, that there were times I found it more difficult to hit through the court. When hitting flatter put-away shots, the 18x20 was more effective for me.

The Tour Pro 315 has a solid feel, but not quite as solid as the 93P. I like that the Tour Pro 315 has medium-low 64 stiffness rating, but it still has a slightly muted feel from the Kinetic technology. I think the trade off in feel, is somewhat compensated by some added power, and forgiveness in headsize. With the Tour Pro 315 I would probably doctor it up with a little weight at 3 and 9, and maybe a leather grip.

Thank you Troy for a great response, very much appreciated. And I’m with you on the leather grip, you converted me many years ago.

Cheers
