Forearm pain

Recently I’ve had pain that started on the top of my forearm. It was never enough to really affect me so I decided to keep playing and cut out lifting until my arm felt better. On Thursday I was playing and it felt completely fine with a little bit of pain when warming up which dispersed after a few minutes. The next morning the bottom of forearm hurt like crazy. The pain occurs when I swing my arm out twist and there’s also some pain closer to my wrist and closer to my elbow at times. There’s also no swelling or bruising, and no pain to the touch. I am wondering what this could be? Any ideas?

Any tingling on the fingers / hand or gripping weakness? Possible ulnar nerve issue?

When you say "pain the started at top of the forearm", are you referring to tendon pain near the elbow? Have you ruled out tennis elbow (TE) or golfer's elbow (GE)? Both TE and GE pain is sometimes felt at or near the wrist as well as near the elbow.

No tingling or weakness. I'm pretty sure its not tennis elbow or golfer's elbow because my elbow feels fine and the pain is more below the wrist than on wrist.

Below the wrist? Does that mean in the hand? Or in the forearm? Your descriptions are a bit confusing. Usually, “below” and “above” would be given for the arms hanging by your sides — as shown in the image below.

Note that TE and GE are NOT felt right at the elbow joint. They are felt near the elbow — in the tendons below the elbow.

I don’t think it’s on the muscle… likely an overuse injury I guess so I’ll take a few more days off and go from there. Thanks for the help.

If not muscle, then what? Fascia pain? Nerve pain? Something else?

I have pain in exactly the same place right now. I am pretty sure that it is based on over use on my part when I should have taken a few days off. I am forced to now.
To me, it feels like the muscle - not a nerve or joint thing....so doing some very slow and methodical stretching to try and loosen it up.

I have the pain in the wrist tendon of that muscle.
It got to the tendon because I didn't treat the tight muscle for a good time.

Just have to work it, strengthen it and keep it loose.

Have you changed anything the way you play? E.g. 1HBH to 2 HBH, grip position, stances, serve, or contact point on groundstrokes, etc..
Sometimes small muscles/tendons in arm are not conditioned to handle the load, they get fatigued. Playing a tad at slower pace, being aware of movement that cause arm to feel weird.

I would not continue playing if the pain persists more than few days.
