Recently i turned the hip more than i used to(as in taking the racket back, and turning the hip more , not only shoulders) and my shots became more solid. What is your opinion on this? Any difference in weather you use classic or more western grips, or different stances? open vs closed? I am eastern btw, but not completely closed. I have a feeling people turn their shoulders but forget about the hips...?

Whatever works for you....
Can't turn hips too much when you are force to run wide for a ball.
Everyone is built differently, but more important, we can't see your previous strokes. Maybe you never had enough hip turn .

You are describing the "unit turn". The upper body, from the hips through the chest and shoulders, coils on the legs. The bigger the unit turn the greater the power potential.
You should complete this unit turn whatever your grip or stance.

yes i may have left out the "unit turn" before, thinking shoulders too much. Funny thing is i use a closed stance a lot.. isn`t it impossible to not turn your hips then??

Just about impossible to turn the shoulders without turning the hips if you've been playing for a while. (I have seen some amazing contortions on the tennis court, though.) My guess is you were turning your hips more than you remember, but just more recently became aware of it.

Thanks, i may have turned my hips before too, but my forehand was crap then, now as i am aware of hipturn(and maybe turning hip more) my forehand is just so much more solid, atleast it was that one time(and last time) i played ... LOL
