Forehand Loop ATP vs WTA Forehand Questions

Kudos for the Prestiges.
Speaking of which (if you can find an affordable one, maybe on fleabay or from a German auction site), you may want to have a look at the Head TGT 293.1 prostock, in a Prestige PJ 16x18. I haven't seen another controlled racquet, with so much power ( plus feel ), mainly due to the fact of how easily in swings!
I've owned 3-4 versions from heavy to lighter ones and they all are easy to swing.

I use either full bed poly at 46/44 LBs or gut poly at 50/48 LBs, no need to go lower imo.

ok will be on the look out.

liking the prestige MP instead of the Pro due to the 18x20, easier to volley... that pattern doesn't produce much spin but doesn't 'take' much either, you know how annoying it is to volley a sitter but dump in the net due to the underspin and you forgot to compensate for it.... seems I don't need to think about the incoming spin with the 18x20..

sounds like your a strong dude... I kept lowering it to 30 until I find effortless swing. it's cold here though, in the summer 35 will do.... also I put the Solinco on my PS85 and found it's only playable at 20..

Recorded today in slo-mo. Sorry about the flashing.
4 shadow swings!!!! then 3 with balls! Obviously ball-less is easier. :giggle:

I've managed to change a few things: higher takeback, larger swing arc and off hand stays up somewhat!

I still need to work out the bending for low balls, and blah blah blah... :D:laughing:

With such a ball, which is sitting up, not penetrating, and you want to add power, I would definitely go for neutral stance and step through as you hit because if you try to hit it in an open stance, it would be tough to to generate power consistently

I also have the 18x20 version, it called 293.2, but while controlled and softer is not as good as the 16x19, the 293.1. It lacks spin and power. Even the prostock site has one listed at USD450 and the other at USD625.
(Again don't pay those prices, but maybe half, if you are lucky).
Not exactly sure about volleys though, didn't compare them, b/c I don't hit too many volleys, playing doubles once each second week only.

Once again very observing. I have some trouble w this.

Initially I stepped in n pivot more with front foot but it looks fugly, nothing like any pros fundamentally. Haha.

So I switched to pivoting n unloading w. Inside foot. It's certainly different for the swing.

While ok, it didn't look as nice, nor smooth/fast as your left hand.

Hi guys... i'm unwinding months of obsession over the FH takeback and backswing .. This obsession is very detrimental to my FH. I'm too conscious.. It's like paying attention to your feet while you're walking. As a result you can't walk normal. Same thing with my FH. It's a weird problem!

if the ball flies good no need to fix anything...

middle age dude? who has the energy to actually execute the 'perfect ATP fh'... there is no such thing as 'effortless power'... too much work.

Well, I was playing like MEP stroke-wise. Very effective. Shots flew good.

No offense to MEP, I wasn't happy.

I thought I could do better strokes. That's why I pursued a better FH and BH, at least the look. Kept tinkering them like our pal Curious. :)

Anyway enough is enough. I'm settling for a particular FH and moving onto other aspects, chiefly ball reading and reaction and movements.

You are right of course, but all of us are aware that we'd get most benefits from improving movement....It's just that it's more fun to learn technique, rather then do jumping jacks or run in the woods :)
