hi,

could somebody break down what parts the torso and arm play in a normal topspin forehand?

am i right to say the the torso rotation contributes the bulk of forward motion, while the arm contributes most of the upward motion?

Well, since the arm start behind you, hits the ball somewhat infront of you and then wraps around your head, I'd say the arm is a major component of the stroke.
Torso twist and untwist helps some. Movement forward helps some. Legs driving and extending into the shot helps some, but if you try to hit without arms, your shots won't get over the net.

For me it's the combination of leg pushing up, a bit turning at the hip and some shoulder. Forearm is the least.
