I'm on holiday in Europe at the moment and I just cut my tongue on a baguette. They sure make them crusty here. I forgot how bad it tastes, now I can't enjoy my meal.

I went to the Wimbledon museum again last week so I think this is tennis-related enough to be here

Look it's been a long day and I'm tired. I had my wallet stolen yesterday too on the Metro. I could make a Hunchback of Notre Dame reference here but I'll be nice

The proper way of eating a baguette is not licking it.

Sorry to hear about the wallet, though. One has to be very mindful of their pockets in the metro.

What's with this cliché about France and baguettes ?

btw op it's funny how you mentioned your stolen wallet as a bonus to your story, like you had 5 more in case you lost the first one
It only had about 30 euros in it so not a disaster. I did have to cancel a couple of cards though

When I was about to board a Metro from La Défense to Musée d'Orsay, this old French man with a thick French accent looked so lost and asked me which metro he should take to go to Château de Vincennes. Here me thinking I thought I was the tourist, not him!

Also I was approached by a petition scammer yesterday. Fortunately after my loss the other day I've done some reading and I'm wise to their tricks now and will be a lot more careful in the future.

If someone approaches you to sign a petition, just tell them to go away. They're looking to rob you while you're distracted filling out the form

I feel bad for you. I keep everything in my wallet. It's silly.

My French is beyond horrible. I managed to get lost in Paris. Does anybody speak English? They thought I was American and just ignored me. I said, no Canadian ... oh, no problem. Everyone wanted to help. Funny.

If you go to Paris make sure you visit Louvre Museum. It is amazing :)

When in tourist destinations (or on trains in general) I keep my wallet in my front pocket. Thieves are the worst.

Mine was in my front pocket.

I bought a coat with zippered internal pockets the very same afternoon though. If there's one thing you can buy easily in Paris, it's decent clothes

Whenever I travel, I keep my wallet and phone in a closed bag which is always with me, either as a backpack, belt pouch, or cross slung. I never keep anything in my pockets other than trivial temporary stuff.

Did you have to retaliate by setting Notre Dame on fire? That was a bit extreme, no?

So sorry for your loss!

Has Paris become a third world city? I was in Colombo recently, and nobody robbed me nor stole my belongings.

My friend accidentally left her phone in a busy mini market in the city centre and 1 hour later she came back to the same place and enquired about her lost phone and the manager came to her and gave her phone back in one piece. She wanted to offer him a reward, but the gorgeous looking manager refused.
