I just saw this on the Boris Becker website:
http://www.borisbecker.com/en/company/history/

Excerpt:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2007

14.5. Hamburg: Official presentation of the new BORIS BECKER SPORTS GmbH featuring his new Boris Becker tennis brand. Presentation of SERVEMAN as well as collaboration with the German shooting star Benjamin Becker.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

GmbH in Germany is similar to Ltd. in the U.K., K.K. in Japan, and Inc. in the U.S., meaning that it's its own corporation. Also, there's no mention of Volkl whatsoever.

Again, it's starting to sound more and more like Boris Becker Sports GmbH will be a totally separate company rather than just a sub-brand of Volkl Tennis.

Anyway, we'll see what happens when they officially launch on June 25th.

BP... great link, i read the whole thing! very interesting. they did mention Volkl in the "Big Grommets" section... but nothing major anywhere else!

thanks for the link! (hmmm, offocial launch, right before Wimbledon... which by the way, Wimby is mentioned plenty on his site!)

jcstennis, Thanks!

What I meant was no mention of Volkl as it relates to the new corporation, Boris Becker Sports GmbH.

No mention of Volkl, but a relationship seems likely as the racquets are loaded with Volkl proprietary features (sensor handle, big grommets, DNX - for which Volkl probably holds a trademark - and others). One doesn't typically start a company that would independently compete with another company you still own half of, and get to use trademarked features to boot. Wouldn't make much sense.

Well, apparently that's what Boris Becker did.

BTW, he could easily license those technologies from Volkl.

hahahahahahaha! Our very own Inspector Clouseau is up to the usual spreading of whack and wild uninformed speculation.

The bottom of that very same webpage also sez
"
Becker Tennis established 1985
"

This all has been previously discussed around here, and an accurate portrayal of the Volkl/Becker situation posted by me. Forum posters should ignore things that Inspector Clouseau posts

I am playtesting a couple of Becker frames right now. They have Volkl identification on the frame itself, on the handle wrap, and on the bags in which they are packed and shipped

The Inspector posted this very same post within another thread, got no atention I guess, so has reposted this in a new thread for high drama

Also note that the only distributor for Boris Becker Tennis within the U.S. is our very own TW. You would think that if it were still part of Volkl that it would be more widely distributed by some other existing Volkl distributors as well.

http://www.borisbecker.com/no_cache...ountry]=USA&tx_contactslist_pi1[resultview]=5

in my country, the becker 11 is comming in late june via the distributor of volkl...
maybe the tennis racquets market is small here, therefore becker is using the existing distributor here....?
will check with the distributor here to find out more......

More likely a collaboration with Volkl as there's just too much overlap in the products, including their version of the V1 racquet. Probably established on paper as a separate company for tax reasons, as you'll observe that the new company has a Swiss address, rather than Germany. I would be surprised if it weren't the exact same ownership, including whomever Becker's partners are at Volkl. I can't see why those partners would license away so much of the brand to help an actual competitor if they weren't involved themselves.

It's the same EXACT address as for Volkl Tennis GmbH (both are based in Switzerland, not Germany): http://www.voelkl-tennis.com/cms/front_content.php?idcat=80

Even all the employees and managers are the same.

They are not competing with themselves because Boris Becker Tennis IS Volkl Tennis. Boris Becker Sports is the new company. Volkl Tennis is the old company.

What are your playtesting impressions so far? I like the DNX10MP, particularly the weight distribution, although I could use a little more power. OOPS -- Just saw your earlier thread on the topic.

ah, the good old inspector. never forgot this scene in the movie:

person standing by a dog
IC - excuse me, does your dog bite?
person - no, my dog does not bite
IC - tries to pet dog and dog almost bites his hand
IC - i thought you said your dog does not bite?
person - that is not MY dog

lol..a classic schtick for sure, but lost without the French accent... that one is tied as the most classic for me along with the Mrs Nusebaum sequence in Steve Martins' The Jerk.....the Optigrab thing was pretty funny too

there is a thread farther down the page which i started about the Becker11 with actual information rather than wild speculation like what is happening in this thread ..i've spent an hour or so with the Becker11 and it does have more juice than the dnx10mp which is what i am currently using. i have a long hit with it planned for tommorow, and i will post something in that thread with detail about it which will be a true on court accurate portrayal of this frame rather than just some wild speculation like what is happening in this thread..the weight distribtion on the becker11 is different and is kind of throwing me off just now as far as my perception of it goes...it seems heavier pickupweightwise, but seems to be pretty easy to get momentum going with it perhaps because they repositioned the dnx material from the inside of the hoop to the outside...i was hitting it against a lesser player so picked the side where i was hitting against the wind and hit balls with both the dnx10mp and Becker11...it has more juice and a hits really solid ball feel albeit with a diff ball feel that what one would expect from a series10 Volkl..i'll have a good enough feel for this frame to post detailed info after my next hit tomorrow

I learn something new from you every day. Boris Becker Sports and Volkl have no connection to each other but have the "same exact address." What a remarkable coincidence.

I prefer the design of the ATP logo on my Lotto shirts/shorts more than the Boris Becker logo.

Just a request:

Could you make sure when you playtest it that you hit under "adverse" conditions.
