Forum Improvement Suggestion

Just so I don't sound like an ingrate, I'd like to say thanks TW for providing us with these forums. I spend a good deal of my downtime at work scanning these forums for knowledge.

I do have one idea that I think would improve the overall quality of the forums. I'm sure that you have noticed that there are tons of threads that all pertain to the same topics and ask many of the same questions. When I have sought the answer to a particular question, I often do a search before starting a new thread. Much of the time I will want to have string suggestions, for example, tailored to my particular preferences. Sometimes I will add my questions to an existing thread in order to avoid mucking up the forums with more threads on the same topic. What I have found is that my questions are much less likely to be answered if I post them in an existing thread. It seems taht most of the time people don't bother reading rescent additions to older threads because they have either already read most of them or they get overwhelmed by the number of posts and don't bother reading past the first page. What I would like to suggest is that when clicking on a thread, one be directed to new additions to the thread, rather than to the begining of the thread where questions have already been answered. I think that if the forums were to work that way, there would be fewer duplicate threads, making the forum much cleaner and more navigatable.

Thanks,

Grant

That's an option under you User CP. Go to edit options and change your "thread display mode" to "linear-newest first". It's not the board default but it is an available option. Hope that helps
