G.O.A.T.
Finally got around to restringing my Profile 95 2.7 (THANKS V-VERB!!!), and put in Ashaway Kevlar Plus/ Mosquitobite at 86/46lbs.
Off the stringer it had a dt of 40, which is equivalent to 57lbs.
I used to play that racket in college and man it was like dating an old flame! It was great and the stringbed was not too harsh or too soft. Spin was hard to gauge as I havent hit with that racket recently, but a few shots dipped at the last minute. I think the spin envelope may be really small because of the frame thickness.
Tamed power is how I would describe it and for me it was pretty much a perfect fit. My BH was a bit weird with it but that might just be getting used its different balance ( Its much more head light than the current sticks I have been using). When I connected it was some of the better bhs I have hit.
Where it shined was the serve. I just went back to my old Roscoe Tanner type serve and man, I was FINALLY hitting with the power I have. Had 3 aces in 3 service games, which is not a LeeD or Suresh performance, but its been forever since I had any aces (though that is from playing doubles mostly). Also been a long time since I flatten out a ball on he serve! Felt awesome to have the power I know I can hit. Only played 3 games but held all 3.
Only the BH service return was off. I think its just the balance or something, or me just going for too much.
It was super stable and all I did was add my grips, with no lead.
I will play with this for sure. Which is the reason for my post. Are there any rackets nowadays that play like the Profile 2.7? My steam 96 is kind of close but its not the same. Its likely I will wear this frame out with the tension I am using and would like to find a current stick I could buy in quantity. TIA.
