Was wondering where the women went--Googled and found a NY Times article explaining their disappearance. They ditched the Tennis Channel--seems TC has it's issues with stuff--was hoping TC's purchase by Sinclair Broadcasting would help with that, but it's still running the same cheezy commercials, and not much has changed--Brett Haber and Mary Carriloo are still there talking over the players--except they lost the women.
WTA appears to be going through "beta testing" for now, but I found them. In Palm Springs I'm watching them on Spectrum Cable (used to be Charter) on the "BEIN-SPORTS-HD", network, channel 417. Watching two lovely ladies now from Madirid (bring back the blue clay!), Sam Stosur and a tall Colombian I haven't seen before, Mariana Duque-Marino. Crowds are sparse in Madrid, they probably won't be coming in until after dinner around mid-night. Do like the girl doing the commentary, with the accent--she know her stuff!--recently off the tour herself.
Did I say "BRING BACK THE BLUE CLAY!"-- it was beautiful and you could actually SEE the ball, and not fall asleep trying to. Tiriac got unlucky with it, the new court got installed during a freeze that made it gummy--but had NOTHING to do with the color blue!--there's a reason almost all hard-courts are becoming blue these days.
One of my favorites is coming up next, Roberta Vinci vs Smona Halep--hey, maybe it will be colorful and Ilie Nastase will show up to sit with Tiriac to watch Halep, a fellow Romanian--err, maybe not--looks like it's soccer now--think this network is heavily euro influenced--I've never seen cricket, is that like baseball?
