Who do you hope will win?

Geez, looking at both lineups I'd give the edge to France. But on indoor carpet, and with home court advantage, Berdych and Stepanek should be deadly. Tough call I voted for France by a hair.

I'm gonna say Richie/Tsonga is the doubles pair seeing as they did win a tournament in Australia last year together.

France takes this 3-2, should be the best tie of the week.

I gotta agree. Can you imagine berdych and stepanek at home in czech republic. Seems the indefinables w/b with them, so if it comes down to the dubs, gotta go with the frenchies.

Gasquet/Llodra is a possibility for doubles, yummy. Jo is certain to play singles, they might want to give him a day off on Saturday, I doubt he'll play doubles.
Please, oh please, let there be a stream for this tie.

The real victor is us fans. I can't wait for this one. The one I'm looking forward to the most after the Serbia/Spain matchup. Some fantastic players, a different surface, and potential for highly varied and interesting tennis.

since it's on indoor carpet...
I'd go w/ llodra/clement for doubles, simon & tsonga for singles. I'd pick Gasquet over Simon in general but he's too unreliable.

however, the roster is listed without llodra or clement so who knows.

Schedule:
Friday
Tomas Berdych (CZE) v Gilles Simon (FRA)
Radek Stepanek (CZE) v Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA)

Saturday
Lukas Dlouhy/Jan Hernych (CZE) v Richard Gasquet/Michael Llodra (FRA)

Sunday
Radek Stepanek (CZE) v Gilles Simon (FRA)
Tomas Berdych (CZE) v Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA)

My dream doubles will be playing :D

Is there any news about why Monfils was dropped?
He's still listed on the DC website:

edit: nvm ... i just saw this tidbit: "Gael Monfils, due to make his Davis cup debut as well this weekend, had to pull out of the tie and has been replaced by doubles specialist Michael Llodra."

well, the pre-selection that was made didn't mean he would play. forget always said he was only going to announce the "real four" on thursday... too bad for monfils, he's been wanting to play for a long time. i'm not really a simon believer, but i guess his good record against berdych played a lot, as the ATP rankings implies to make them play each other on friday...

and as you are babelfish-holic :

 Not really, more of my guys in the French team and beating Stepanek is always a good thing, hahaha. Besides, I'm dreaming of Croatia-France semi :swoons:

That's what I'm here for.

That and I enjoy watching most of the Frenchies play.

BTW, Cilic is above Del Potro in the race now. FYI :p

gael.gasquet would've been bad anyways...

I'm so excited for these matches though! ALLEZ FRANCE

I think this will be the most exciting of the Davis Cup match-ups, the one which would be closest in scoring. I am hoping for France to win, but would not be displeased if Czech Rep win.

I like the flashy quirks of Stepanek (except the pants dropping, no thanks!), and would likely be the only one of the Czech team I would be rooting for to win their match.

Intentionally or not, you hit the nail somewhat because Tomas is one of my guys, but I'd probably die before rooting for any team with Stepanek in it. Allez Frenchies, if all goes well, I might still be able to cheer for Berdych against Simon :-P
