Fred out of Dubai/IW/RG

It has nothing to do with the post. I sign all my posts with the same smilies, with very rare exceptions. Just think of it as a signature.

Unfortunate for everyone involved with tennis including Federer but you gotta wonder if this was the actual issue at AO and not groin problem.

Good move, if he has any health issues that needed to be dealt with he should have done it ASAP as he did. His best years are past him and this may be his last shot at the W / OG ( singles ) where he has a decent chance comparing to RG where he has almost no chance especially if he's injured so smart move. Though he should seriously consider what & what before the 2021 season however, having in mind that he's not getting any younger ...

This is what happens when you push yourself to limits. Same happened after Raonic loss in Wimbledon 16. And this time two five setter comebacks saving match points cost him almost half of the season.

Well, he can't have a control over everything. If it bothered him it was either playing on until the tournament is over for him, or just forfeit and withdraw (difficult decision when it comes to Majors). Besides, as long as it didn't cause more serious problem, he still achieved quite a lot, considering the circumstances.

Anyone have any details on his procedure? Was it a meniscal tear just like his left knee procedure from before? If so, he'll be back in no time! Wish him nothing but the best!

F*ck this **** man.

At least the timing is not bad. Who cares about the clay season anyway.

He'll be there for Wimbledon, Olympics, Cincy and USO. That's what matters the most. Get well soon, Roger!

Only thing for him though is, he will need to likely go three of them then to win Wimbledon.

The concentration of effort will not be 3 consecutive rounds (QF, SF, F) so in that sense it might be better. Tougher matches split apart by relatively easier rounds effectively makes 7 consecutive matches played at a more even pace. Lots of assumptions here as he might not even go 7 rounds considering the news about his minor knee operation.

Never want to see anyone go down with injury. At least he didn’t wait a very long time to have the surgery (*looks at Novak*) but it seems he did wait a bit longer than he probably should have. Shame about his points but it is an Olympic year and obvs that and Wimby are his priorities. Wishing him the best and most speedy recovery.

I don't think it's the same issue at all but we'd have to ask him. It was obvious he was having a problem but I can't tie the two together.
I’m not saying his knee was the issue at the AO, I was merely responding to someone who doubted he was injured during the AO. Anyone watching his matches could clearly see he was hampered during the second week.

Bad news is he will lose a lot of points and be set back for a while after returning. Good news is that he said it was minor surgery so maybe he won't be setback too much. Wish him a speedy recovery.

If the clay season started now with Dubai, IW, Miami coming after I think he would've played the last 3 tournaments. I assume he could be back on court within 2 months but doesn't give a flying F about clay at this point and who can blame him.
