Novak Djokovic : Roberto Bautista Agut is a specialist on this surface and too patient for me. That along with the difficult conditions made this match very special. For him to come to this tournament after what happened in his family is really unfortunate and to be able to play like this, it’s quite an effort. We get along very well ever since he came on the tour. We have tons of respect and appreciation for each other.

I was just watching the highlights and couldn't help thinking Novak is playing more aggressively now than a month ago. He's looking like he's building up to his old form, I thought, too.
He might not be ready to win RG this time round but I think by Wimbledon he will be a serious contender again. He's already got 3 of those trophies in his pocket so a 4th might just be possible if he keeps getting better and better.
And he looks kinda sexy with the stubble.

I have been watching the highlights of this match on Youtube at x0.5 speed. Both players have textbook shots.

Hard fought win for Novak, enjoyed this match slightly more than their 2016 meeting at the same tournament. Enjoyed his 4th set beat down, tactically perfect after pulling that 3rd set out. You could see RBA was physically faltering, Djokovic targeting that backhand side, the Spaniards shots falling frequently shorter while his forehand lacked the accuracy and weight of shot it had in the previous sets. The use of the drop shot was excellent, after a poor showing in execution and shot selection at the start/middle of the match, RBA was unable to deal with it. A great match regardless, considering his Mother passing away not too long ago...
Djokovic's mentality was shaky and it showed on a lot of the bigger points, but he finished on a high. Think he'll get past Nando, I hope Goffin gets through Gael and we get that QF. Interesting to see how Djoker holds up physically in the 2nd week...

They want to keep the Slam Race on. For every slam that Rgr wins, they have to hand one to Rafa. Last year went too far when they had to organise the USO for Nadal.
They must be dreading Fedr winning WO this year. They'll probably add clay to the court or rip off all the grass in the first week itself.
