Don’t get me wrong, even last week I noted that in no other profession would this be the case. If Thiem brings the goods, you know, if the fans are bigging him up people on Twitter, he would most definitely be the favourite. Unfortunately, Nadal's Vamos and bamos will be viewed as self-serving and allow people to dismiss the actual real subject, which is why I can only see one winner.

Bottom line, we're at Roland Garros and Rafa Nadal is most definitely the guy here. It's going to take a Misawa type effort from Thiem and well.....

There is no way Rafa allows Thiem to beat him on Sunday on his favourite court. Every victory Thiem has over Rafa has never been in a final. The last 2 victories of Thiem vs Nadal was QF matches. We all know Rafa is vulnerable the most before SF matches. Hence why he has a 24-3 win loss ratio in SF. This dreaming Thiem will win is quite lunatic. Djokovic had 3 efforts at Nadal in a SF/Final match between 2012 and 2014 and lost. Novak we all agree was the best equipped. Thiem is a very streaker player when he plays Nadal. He may come out strong and stay with Rafa etc but once Rafa bites his forehand and dictates the play then we will see error galore from Thiem. I can almost see it now. Players like Nadal, Djokovic and Federer do NOT lose slam finals against no goats. The player Rafa probably feared most was still Djokovic ironically. Thiem is a exceptional player but to beat Rafa in RG in a best 5 in a FINAL, sorry cant see it.

But due to Rafa, we forgot RG is such a neutralizing slam.
Hardest one to dominate long term.
More chance to younger lower ranked players, even unseeded ones.
Rafa has done toughest job in tennis and up heal battle every year....

King Marat looking stunning as always.

If only he was the rising star now, could have done some massive damage on the Tour...
Sad that Zverev will one day have more slams than Safin.

At least we’ll always know that Safin was far more talented. Zverev will never play a match like Safin did at AO 05 against Fed.

Match of Thiems life. A win here would kick start a tremendous career for him, then I'm talking about ATG career.

Come on Dom, you can do this!

Thiem has looked stronger than anyone in the tournament and Rafa has looked weak, however this is RG and if Rafa brings what he usually does to finals day here then he can win for sure. Tough one to call as Thiem is the in form player but Rafa is still the favourite, hopefully it's a good match whoever wins.

Yes. Nadal appeared to lose intensity from Rome I think.
And I noticed thiems backhand has became pretty stable lately.

I've probably watched more clay court tennis in the past week than I have in the entire time I've been watching tennis(last year I probably watched 2 RG matches) and Thiem looks solid to me. But, he'll presumably become a broken down mess in the final vs The King of Clay! I hope Thiem can at least challenge Nadal even if he doesn't win. Nothing worse than lopsided matches IMO. I tune out.

I think it’s gonna be a snoozer. Hope i am wrong. Thiem needs the first set in the worse way.

Going by the score Nadal completely destroyed Del Potro today. Could Thiem win the best of 5 final? He could. Are his chances realistic? Not in my view, your view may differ though.

Head or heart?

Lets go with the heart, Thiem is ready for the task, wins In 4 or 5.

Both Diego and Delpo showed that Rafa is vulnerable on serve (Delpo couldnt convert of course). Thiem should also hold far more easily than Diego, because of a much better serve. Weather conditions also good for Thiem.

I don't think he'll be anywhere close to being an ATG. He can probably win a few slams.

Dom to go down tamely in straights, with at least one breadstick set. He hasn't the mental strength to possibly defeat Rafa in his first slam final. I couldn't believe how many people thought Del Po had a chance in the semis and Del Po is stronger mentally (and with much more experience) than Thiem.

Mental strength won't make up for a lack of ability. Thiem has the game to trouble Nadal on clay. Del Potro never had.

Don't remind me, I am already irritated that Murray and especially Wawrinka has more than Safin.

Tough for anyone to play a match like that, that was one of the best tennis spectacles ever.

The sky didn't fall chicken little, calm down. Even nervous Nadal, as according to you, demolished Delpo. LOL, do you have any clue about tennis? :)
Much more than you do. Your posts have ZERO tennis insights and all you do is obsess over Clarky21.
I don't even bother reading what you write, given that is biased and has zero merit.
There are a lot of big Fed/Djoko fans who hate Nadal, but at least they know about tennis, so I like reading their opinions. Unlike your posts, where not even one of them has ever been worth my time.
I'm going to put you on ignore and this is the last post I ever reply from you. Have a nice day..

Yes, and cause Nadal is in, there's at least 2 options of salty tears. Of all the groups of fans you can take a **** on, you take a **** on nobody
I’m not about taking a **** on anybody.

Amor y Paz my friend.

Aren't conditions going to be damp on Sunday? If so, Thiem might snatch a set.

Otherwise, it's a repeat of last year's semi.

Oh, Thiem has the fitness and the game on clay, but it won't matter since he will be overwhelmed by the moment and won't be able to handle it.

Does anyone really believe Thiem could serve out a match on PC against Nadal, even if he had a 6-4, 6-7, 6-2, 5-3 lead? I would bet the house Nadal would break him and come roaring back to defeat him.

Good poll, but missing the option:

* Rafa drowns in his own sweat due to humidity, Thiem gives life support and becomes not only RG Champion but also Moral Champion!
If he does it well enough they may have to get a room afterwards and Pico will be insanely jealous!
