Where did that come from? I didn't know anyone was so against Errani. She seems like someone who doesn't evoke any intense feelings, good or bad, from anyone.

Nonsense. 18 winners against Ana. In two short sets.

Tactical, to me, is orchestrating points. And not going for shots that are too big for you. Aga does this well. Virtually the only time she loses is when she is hit off the court by an on-big hitter. That has nothing to do with the tactical game.

And taking advantage of her mistakes is how EVERYONE beats Ana. Even the big hitters.

I am 50/50. Wasn't there talk of Errani being hurt in some way? Errani isn't going to blast Aga's serves, which is usually her biggest clay weakness. I think there is more pressure on Sara to repeat her success from last year. But Aga has never been this far at the French. Who knows...

I say Radwanska gets it done and beats Errani because of the h2h which Radwanska owns. On clay it is 2-1 for Radwanska.

Again, waiting or taking advantage is not a sound strategy--it is not constructing points, or taking anyone out of their own game. If she was such a thinker out there, even big hitters would not have their way with her as often as seen. Henin employed strategy, but she put a better fight against big hitters, so what's Aga's excuse?

one step at a time ... first she'll have to get past the no. 5 seed Sara Errani ..... if she were playing uninjured, I'd favor Errani b/c of Aga's recent record, but after her medical time out today, I'm not sure Sara is 100% ..... but before that confrontation can take place, the women need to finish a couple R4 matches.....

Jankovic would have to beat both Azarenka and Sharapova to make the final. Good luck with that. Yes she plays Serena pretty well but almost no chance she even reaches her.

I wouldn't say Errani is a ped user, but she has the same weapons in my opinion that Wozniacki does.... None. Wozniacki has totally overachieved, and bagged a rich golfer which is her biggest win!

As did Hingis. People compare Radwanksa to Hingis and although I can see the reasons why, it really is a joke to compare her to Hingis. Hingis had five slams, how many does Radwanska have?

Radwanska will very likely get by Errani, doesn't matter if Errani is injured or not. Radwanska is the better player in that match-up.

So Azarenka is up a set against Schiavone... I don't watch the WTA all that often, but considering Schiavone won the French Open and reached the final the following year, this is impressive for Azarenka... right?

The score really surprises me, I was expecting a close match considering their current form. I'm guessing Schiavone isn't playing at her best (can't watch).

IMO this is the best performance from Victoria on clay since a very long time. Schiavone played quite well but Victoria was just too good.

If Victoria keeps this up, I feel she'll do repeat of 2009 by defeating the defending champion, only, this time, it'll be to make the F.

Wouldn't it be quite a story if the player who's 0-4 in clay court finals of big events won her first big clay court title by clinching a trophy in Roland Garros just like that, almost out of nowhere ?

This might seem absurd at first sight but any individual who believes that Roland Garros on the women's side produces logical results has to reconsider his said knowledge about the women's game ASAP xD. I don't know but this scenario seems to reinforce with time with this performance today, we'll see how things eventually unfold.

Said if before, and will say it again: Victoria is hungry, powerful and has a take no prisoners attitude. She was already tough, but compare her post majors on-court behavior to post-major Kvitova. Night and day, as Azarenka feels she belongs in the sport and will let everyone know it.

Kirilenko beats Mattek-Sands to go through to the quarters. Her superiority skill wise trumped Mattek-Sands' superiority in the mental department (the opposite could have happened). Anyway, she's through to become canon fodder for Azarenka.

Yes. Essentially, if you want to trouble Azarenka, you must either be incredibly crafty, fearless or able to outhit her. Kirilenko has none of these qualities but Mattek-Sands has one of them. Not enough, but certainly a more enjoyable match-up.
 
I'm tired of Serena terrorizing the girls. She should play with the guys in the ATP. Look at her body.

29 unforced errors (it actually seemed like more than that) compared to 15 for JJ, who won 60 62

grats to JJ .... the commies were calling her Pink Panther b/c of her color coordinated leggings (better than the plain old black IMO) .... she plays sharapova in the quarters .... wonder whether there w/b enough sun to avoid having to wear the leggings? :o
