Sharapova has never ever defended a major I don't even know why people initially picked her as some kind of favorite... just like in all the slams she had previously won, she's going out tamely as it seems.

Even if she wins there and if Victoria wins her own match, Victoria will slam her just in all their most important matches.
 
Sharapova with that shriek is annoying. She also has these rituals like slapping her thigh and then standing with the clenched fist.
 
Worse than watching and listening to Sharapova is listening to excessive chatter from Fowler and Mary Jo Fernandez. Why don't they keep quiet?
 
Great....so these matches will finish at the same time (I think Vikki will win the 2nd set) and we'll get the men's starting around the same time
 
Victoria 4-2 up with 1 break.

I see the Maria bashers have gone very quiet since the 1st set.

Also, I'm sure I don't need to remind anyone that Maria will definitely lose her no.2 spot if she loses here.
 
Man I cant stand sharapova but you have to give her credit in the mental department. She never goes away, except against Serena. She always has this un yielding belief and then backs it up. UGGGGGGG
 
What happened in the first set? JJ GOATing or Maria spraying balls everywhere?

Jankovic strikes me as someone, like Hantuchova, who simply likes playing tennis and likes tour life. So, I think we'll see her play a long time, Hantuchova. This was a good result for JJ, but did she have a chance in the second set?

Not to mention her ability to take control of points or hit outright winners when she's on the defensive.

Maria was too distracted by the skin damage she saw on JJ's face
 
Jankovic ran out of gas, which allowed Sharapova to cruise to a victory, despite having no Plan B. Now, take a look at Victoria's level of play: tough, focused and ready.

Sharapova will need a miracle of accidents/bad calls/brainfarting to defeat Azarenka.

She had game points in a couple of the games on her way to a 1-5 deficit. If she'd converted those and still had her three game run to get to 4-5.....sigh.

Literally my least favorite tennis player, but Sharapova's mental focus is respectable. Hopefully Vika or Serena will give her the whatfor. At this point, Vika/Serena final is the most compelling final.

Not sure why you say that. Their h2h is close. I think the outcome is 50-50 on this one.

I also think Sharapova is a slightly better CC player at this point, but it is still basically 50/50. She won't need a mini miracle to defeat Azarenka.

Yes, I give the slight edge to Sharapova on clay as well. Two great fighters in this one, I hope it lives up to the hype.
 
I understand Jelena J was playing in the doubles and mixed doubles as well-is she still alive over there?
