Fritz and Tiafoe and Nike

How long Nike will keep Fritz and Tiafoe? I love these 2 players. But I know Nike politics is rude with players who take lot of time to reach the top. If we compare to others sponsors. But Fritz stagnates and Tiafoe was better 3 years ago. Nike left Tommy Paul last year. You think Nike will do the same thing with them?:confused:

It's hard to tell what level of support some players get. Are they getting paid? How much? Or are some players just getting free product (shoes and clothing) with the promise that they might get a better contract with improved results?

I just know an example with Nike paid Kastkina 100 000 $ per year with some bonus if she have a good results in major. So it's easy to imagine Tiafoe and Fritz have a similar deal.

Daria has had mixed results recently, but was in the top ten with several tour victories. It's not surprising that Nike offered her a $100K contract (back in 2018-19 maybe?) But it's hard to say what her contract status is after a few lean years and a drop in her ranking to #70.

She signed with Nike when she was 18 i believe . Nike paid her 100 000 $ per year from the beginning. She was top junior i think that was normal.

also keep in mind that "tennis" is not the only reason people are sponsored - Fritz has over 100k followers on instagram, hes a young good looking guy they can use in campaigns etc..., tiafoe same situation - the value is not just in results

Excellent point. There are several metrics that can be used to determine contract values.

Should scrap them after their contract ends imo. Sinner is younger and already higher ranked plus musetti/alcaraz will eclipse both of them soon enough

This type of semi-lateral thinking certainly appears to be keeping Kyrgios in the sponsorship game.

tommy paul has a career high rank of 50 and is 24 years old. fritz and tiafoe are both 23 and reached the 20s in rank. i think it's fair to say people generally expect them to do much more than their current rank would indicate - if not break the top 10, at least return to rank 20 something in the future

What have you seen that gives you any type of realistic hope that Fritz and Tiafoe can be Top Ten ??

Fritz and Tiafoe are poster childs for american tennis, at least for the men. IF nike comes around to drop them, Fila would probably be a good shot as they love sponsoring americans (isner, sam, mackie, etc)

nike will always keep americans longer on their payroll, the previous post about marketing matters a lot too. Nike has always presented themselves as the hip brand, and so having younger, attractive, and marketable american players is always on their agenda. Paul was dropped because he isnt as marketable as tiafoe or fritz.

It's important to remember that sponsorships in the end are just another version of advertisements. Tennis results don't matter unless it can help them sell gear.

Interested in hearing what makes Fritz marketable?? Average game with zero personality.

You are reaching. Tommy Paul is 56 in the world, has more personality, his game is more exciting and he gets dropped. You’re making Fritz sound like he’s Bublik.

If we boiled it down to who actually deserves sponsorship... we would have 5 sponsored players on tour in total lol

i think it's more that nike doesnt pay as much. and these players can make more money with a different brand...
