From Clash 100 to ?

Hello guys,

Since one year, I play with a Wilson Clash 100.
Despite its incredible comfort, I wish to have more stability and so less flexibility.

I have already tested Clash 98, ezone 98 but apparently, adding 10g and my shoulder becomes very heavy after 30 min.
Moreover, I choosed the clash thanks to its comfort that doesn't hurt my wirst.
Do you have any raquet advices ? maybe get used to heavier raquets ?

I forgot, I played with Pure aero before the Clash and it was too powerful.
And at the opposite, the gravity mp was too powerless (but with a great comfort)

Do you need comfort? If you've got a history of arm issues then that should always be your first consideration. In sports, the best ability is availability.
If you don't need comfort then the worlds your oyster which actually can be a problem since there are so many frames to try.

It sounds to me with sore shoulders and wrist problems, you do need some comfort so trying to get the flex removed from your frame is probably a bad idea. Learn to live with and appreciate the flex. That is a great shock absorber. And get to the gym and start strengthening your shoulder. No adult male should struggle with the weight of a Clash 98. Also look at working on your mechanics so you initiate the swing with core rather than arms. If your arms are getting tired, you've likely developed bad habits of arm swinging (a problem I find epidemic in adults that start playing with overly light frames).

thanks for your answers !

I will test the Boom to see the difference!

Indeed, being able to play without issues is great and it was fot that I choose the clash.
And have you already tested the Wilson clash 100 pro ? Is it more stable ?

Furthering @JOSHL's Prince suggestions, I'd give the Twistpower X105 a look -- a little more head size, 5g lighter than the Clash 100, while still having the same stock swing weight, plus less handle vibration than the Twistpower X100 (for whatever that's worth to you). Also, don't overlook the humble Warrior series -- 100 300g or Textreme 100 -- both more direct than the Clash but still reasonably arm-friendly, and cheap to boot!

I just picked up the warrior esp. it’s very fun to play with!

I'd go with a Pro Kennex ki q+ 5. But, if you have to have a racket that's got a big name endorsement, I'd go with a Wilson Blade 100. It will cost you a bunch more, probably won't help you as much, but at least you'll have a racket that some big name uses.

Thanks, I will try the Blade 100 nevertheless, I'm pretty worry about the swingweight of this one.

Thanks for your answers, it's funny to see that a lot of you advise me a prince racquet. Indeed, I'm european and there aren't lots raquet of this brand in tournaments.
What do you think about the Prince Phantom 100 ? it seems a legendary raquet...
In comparaison with the gravity mp or the clash 100 ? (stability, power and maneuverability)

Phantom has less of all (stability, power and maneuverability) compared to clash and gravity.

The Phantom series has fantastic feel, but power and lateral stability are somewhat lacking compared to counterparts like the Clash with thicker, more elliptical beams. For what you're looking for, the 100X series might be worth a demo, but I suspect you'll find it too underpowered and unstable (without customization, anyways).

Other fairly comfortable options at similar weight and swing weight to the Clash 100 would be the Dunlop CX 200 OS (295g, 312 SW, 61RA, 139hz), Head Gravity MP (295g, 322 SW, 62RA, 139hz), Head Boom MP (295g, 317 SW, 64RA, 144hz) and Yonex VCore Pro 100 (300g, 318 SW, 63RA, 139hz).

Thanks,
more control than the pure aero 2019?
For some reason, I've never cared for Aero, it just seemed so hard to handle for me, but that said, yes I guess so. I've kinda slowed down my game and not very excited to play, but with this racquet.. and I've only hit it 3 times.. 1st time, I THOUGHT it a dud, 2nd time.. was a hmmm.. maybe not so bad after all.. 3rd time was a WOW.. this is a bloody great racquet and I can see why TW gave it a 87 or 86 score.. it's that good.

Dunlop CX 200 OS, soft, control, but power from the slightly longer strings in the OS head. 98 version is good too. Maybe even Dunlop SX 600? I know I’m still tempted! I weighted up a SX 300 Lite (lower RA than big brothers) and it plays pretty well so the 600 at even lower RA seems attractive from an arm friendly perspective.

I tried a Vcore Pro 100. Meh, too stiff. Fun to flatten out and just crush groundstrokes at the baseline, but not the highest percentage game plan.

I used the Clash for two years, liked it mostly but felt I could use some more control and stability so moved to the Blade 16x19 v7. Haven't looked back. Exactly what I was looking for

I used a Clash 100 for a year b/c of my elbow. I'm using a Pro Staff v13 100 now. Much more control and feel. Natural gut x Monogut ZX hybrid. No more elbow issues.

Natural gut hybrids will sure solve a lot of TE problems. If someone had a particularly sensitive elbow, playing a full bed of natural gut in a Clash 98/100 would be ideal. Would probably need to reshape one's game, but I'd rather learn how to control that setup than not play at all.

A lot of folks sleep on the Instinct line, but it might offer what you're looking for. Forgiving, stiffer than the Clash but by no means "stiff," easy to swing and moderately powered. Cheaper than everything, too.
