Didn't say it wasn't real. Overblown similar to your reactions.

Seriously? Why don't you tell that to the people of California? California is completely running out of ICU beds there due to Covid-19. My relatives are nurses and doctors in the Los Angeles area, and the situation is really getting worse everyday.

I hope that 2021 is better. as you know, some people don't care. I hope Florida is treating you well.

I am feeling great in cocoa beach FL. I am just keeping it to myself and my family. We're just hanging out here by ourselves. We purchase everything online and with curbside pickup. No interaction with anyone. The AirBnB house I am renting has its own heated swimming pool and private beach. The tennis courts here in Cocoa beach are pretty much emptied. Golf is also ok. I am keeping socially distance from everyone but my family members.

I am like you that hopefully 2021 will be a better for everyone. I just hope that the vaccine is still effective against the new strain covid-19 vaccine.

Wish you a safe and happy holiday!!!

Traveling during COVID pretending it’s safely done while criticizing those who question the reality of the so called “pandemic”. Hypocrite.

You're such a clown.

There are way to travel to safely travel without interfacing with other people. My family and I "drove" to Cocoa Beach. We didn't interface with anyone other gas stations and we kept distance 30 feet from everyone. We quickly went in/out of rest area restrooms with masks. When we're Cocoa beach, we're self isolated from everyone for 14 days. I am unlike you to pretend that the pandemic is overblown. You must be a "Trumper" who said that the pandemic will just "go away" or better yet, inject oneself with clorox to kill covid-19.

you should know there are some people you can't have an intelligent conversation with. Don't waste your time. we already have enough negativity with everything that's going on. for record, I love car travel. we drive to englewood florida every other year. we meet a couple that drove straight through from Montreal.

Name calling. Your idea of intelligent conversation. All I said was it was overblown and you irrationally flew off the handle about crap I didn't say or infer. After establishing yourself as a COVID disciple and fear monger, you then admit you're currently engaging in non-essential travel. Travel of which happens to be against the request of your state government. https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/corona...eas-with-widespread-ongoing-community-spread/ Given your prior statements and the fact you thumbed your nose at the advice of your state government, taking you seriously anymore has been reduced to a joke.

In the meantime Merry Christmas!!!

I'll just come out and say it, COVID19 is an overblown bunch of BS.

At the moment the global CFR is around 3%. So if you get infected, you have a 3 in 100 chance of dying. (1 in 30!). Current CFR in the USA is a little better at 2% (so 1 in 50).

Of course within those CFRs are various subgroups but it's still not a good look. Hopefully the vaccines are going to turn this around a lot. Time will tell.

Hey @bobleenov1963, hope you are having a great Christmas. Big Merry Christmas from all of us here Down Under.

You know, the first time I ever heard of Cocoa Beach was watching "I Dream of Jeannie" back in the early 1970s. I thought it was a fictional place only to learn years later it was a REAL place.

And now here I am chatting to someone who is actually in Cocoa Beach. LOL. I would ask you to say "Hi" to Tony Nelson but I guess he has probably passed on to the next level by now.

it is below 60 today in Cocoa beach but will be in the 70's tomorrow and next week. I love morning here in Cocoa beach.

Cocoa beach is very close to NASA, and only an hour drive from Orlando. Everything is no nice and quiet here. Tennis courts are plentiful and almost always emptied. Beaches are beautiful and not crowded at all. A perfect place to quarantine my family.

Fascinating.

Booster club seeks return of U of M men’s tennis with help from creative funding solution

If you read entire article, it stated:

"Provided there are proof of the resources, I would absolutely support retaining tennis and any sport that would have a booster capacity to be revenue-neutral for the university," Rosha said.

But, Vice Chair Steve Sviggum said the issue is more complex and costly, and that sports can’t be looked at individually.

"We have to look at the comprehensive look at the programs as it affects everything, every aspect of the university…it might be Title IX, it might be the finances, it might be diversity…we have to look at the comprehensive view at the program."

The Board of Regents meets next in February, but the booster club's proposal isn't on the agenda. However, the board said it is willing to have further conversations on the issue.

It is not as simple as it looks.

Add Iowa to the list (for men’s tennis)

I believe this is one of the first schools from a power five conferences to drop tennis. They dropped four sports
Drake will gain 2 players who will transfer from instate rival Iowa when it stops men's tennis at the end of next semester.

Drakes men's tennis coach is currently facing a lawsuits for renaging on 2 scholarship offers earlier this year.

I'm suprised there are no contract clauses allowing Colleges to reserve their right to exclude or renegotiate offers up to a certain cutoff date.

In the article, it stated that "But five months after they arrived in Des Moines, Kozlowski told them they would not be receiving an athletic scholarship in the fall, breaching an oral contract, according to the petition and jury demand filed June 15 in Polk County."

Unless they get the coach or university officials on tape verbally offered the athletic scholarship, this will not go anywhere. It is like your boss promised you a raise verbally but unless it is in written on paper or email, it means nothing.

Aren't scholarships on a year by year basis unless a player has a multiyear agreement with a Power 5 school? Coaches have until July 1 to cut or reduce athletic aid for the next year. If the coach told them in June he didnt break any rules but it seems unethical. The situation is somewhat different in that they didn't have aid to begin with to cut. It doesnt sound like they signed an NIL, and if even they did, that is usually valid for just one year. Dont coaches tell walk ons I dont have $ for you freshmen year, but I might have $ soph year? Verbal promises are not legally binding. I dont think coaches can definitely promise academic aid either-usually that has to come from financial aid office. Coaches can give an estimate based on past experience, player's GPA, and test scores, but Fin Aid is "supposed" to be independent of athletics.

http://www.ncaa.org/student-athletes/future/scholarships "If a school plans to reduce or not renew a student-athlete’s aid, the school must notify the student-athlete in writing by July 1 and provide an opportunity to appeal. In most cases, coaches decide who receives a scholarship, the scholarship amount and whether it will be renewed." However, with senators, states, and players going after NCAA for NIL, maybe they will also try to change rules for verbal commitments to improve player rights. But since any changes wont be retroactive, these guys are probably out of luck. However, this unethical treatment will backfire against Drake coach, when future players wont verbally commit and coach cant get walk ons.

I'm aware of a few players here in Australia that have made verbal commitments to play US College Tennis staring in your Autumn 2021. But all of them indicated that nothing was formal until they actually signed a physical contract - which all of them have done so now.

BTW, Happy New Year 2021 to all of you on this thread. Hoping 2021 will be a happy, healthy and prosperous one for you and all of your loved ones.

Best Wishes from us here in the Land Down Under.

It appears that Drake only recruits foreigners. I still think the future recruits will take that risk again. It will be interesting to see how the lawsuit shakes out. I thought most knew that verbal commitments to anything doesn't mean a lot.

It all depends on how you do the accounting, and how full your enrollment is.

https://www.sportico.com/leagues/college-sports/2021/fairleigh-dickinson-adds-sports-1234620637/

If you read the article, it stated that: "Though these sports generate little revenue, and in fact will add “hundreds of thousands” in expenses to a roughly $14 million athletics budget, the school still believes it will come out ahead from a cash standpoint, according to athletic director Brad Hurlbut."

"Fairleigh Dickinson is taking an approach championed by a number of economists, who believe “non-revenue” sports are actually cash-positive for many schools."

So essentially, they don't know either. The jury is still out.
